Visited for lunch whilst walking in the area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I was glad to see 3 ales on, a couple of which were local. The food was fairly standard pub fare at fairly standard prices. A perfectly good option if you're in the area, but in my opinion not worth making a special journey for. aaroncp - 21 Mar 2012 11:12 |
I have read a couple of reviews about the Crown Inn Cootham, in particular by some twit called hengis me. Well I have been a regular of the Crown for more than 20 years. I have shared his comments with quite a few of the regulars. We would like to offer hengis me the price of a pint to go and drink somewhere else. We think that Martin and Laura are great and so is the food and friendly attitude of the staff. My wife and I eat there once or twice a week and we love it. There should be a law against malicious minded individuals like hengis me spreading rubbish about good places to eat. Look at the car park its always full. Dickstar - 3 Jul 2011 22:09 |
I just wanted to mention another point ,if you are thinking about visiting this pub you need to check the price they charge for drinks before you order they are the most expensive we have found even more expensive than my golfclub be warned . hengis_me - 10 Jun 2011 13:43 |
Yes have tried this pub on three occasions mainly because they allow dogs in, unlike previous reviews i have found the service to be good. Its a bit dated and tired inside its the sort of pub for a cheap snack not a a la carte meal, the first time we went the food was ok, the second it was just ok barely hot and very bland. We went again today and the food was terrible, infact mine was not edible and i sent it back twice and then told them not to bother and remove from the bill. Thankfully there is a tesco express nearby will not eat there again hengis_me - 4 Jun 2011 22:32 |
I have visited on a few occasions. The food was always mediocre but today I had a roast and bloody hell, it was poor. Tiny roast pots that were mush in the middle and black on the outside (some potatoes were not grown for roasting), Yorkshire pudding that was without a doubt straight from aunt Bessie for a bargain 8!!!!! Service was poor with a stressed barman who whilst struggling with the coffee machine said in a not to muffled voice "oh FFS". Will not be visiting with the family any time soon, although they will miss the garden. Oh, any the Ploughman's the wife had would not feed a ploughman, more perhaps a ploughman's 3yr old child. I do not give negative feedback as a rule, but I am sooooooo not impressed. Jellybrain - 10 Apr 2011 20:03 |
