The Golden Lion, Caterham

Damp pub, full of plastic gangsters & old people.

AVOID.

The King and Queen, Caterham

Fully agree with Thirsty Worker.
This pub has definitely improved over the last few months.
Good to see it going in the right direction.

As for the person posting as nigelsue, obviously a local with no brain cells.

The Village Inn, Caterham

Food was OK
Glad it's shut down.
Was full of Coke Addicts.

The Harp, Covent Garden

The best pub in London for real ales. (approx 10)
Grey Ghost IPA, Sambrooks Junction, Squirrel London Porter, Dark Star Old Chestnut, Palmers Dorset Gold + more!
For a small pub this is an absolute gem.
If your going to Covent Garden then make sure you pay this place a visit.
Friendly atmosphere & friendly locals, as well as holiday goers from all over the globe.
Will be back! 10/10.

Pals, Croydon

Used to be full of coke heads.

Glad it's long gone.

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

Always pop in here when in Croydon.
A fantastic pub hid away from the main crowds.
All the usual Youngs ales & 1 or 2 guest ales on now & then.
Has a fantastic huge outside area.

The Fox And Hounds, South Godstone

I must say that this is a very quaint pub.
Nice & cosy + the beer is kept well.
Greene King IPA & Abbot Ale on tap.
The guest ale which was 'Dizzy Blonde' (Robinsons) hit the spot very well & will be going back for more.....
Garden could do with a bit of tidying up tho.

The White Lion, Warlingham

Popped down here over the weekend & must say that the beer is very well kept.
Nice play area for kids & nice decking area to sit.
This more of a restaurant with a bar, but worth a visit.
Lovely little herb garden outside.
7/10

The Crown, Shoreham

What a fantastic pub, surrounded by beautiful Kent countryside.
We had a pint of Doom Bar & a pint of Harveys Best (both kept very well).
Did not eat food, but what was coming out of the kitchen looked lovely.

The Lion And Lobster, Brighton

What a fantastic pub.
Great Ales, great food & great location.
We had a starter, main & glass of wine each & total bill was 45.
+ Portions were huge!

Yes it is a loud pub, but there are quiet areas.
1st floor is bar with a few Tv screens.
2nd floor is Restaurant & Bar
3rd Floor is bar with Tv screens
Roof is smoking area

The Whyteleafe Tavern, Whyteleafe

Only a couple of Ales on tap, could be better looked after.
Guinness, Lager & Cider ok.
BBQs are great.
Always busy on weekends.
& Landlord doesn't tolerate trouble.

The Chequers Inn, Heaverham

What a fantastic little pub. (Shepherd Neame)
Always try to visit when weather is good as I have never seen a better pub garden. Food is great, 10 for burger & worth every penny.
Would have given this gem 10/10 but limited to only 3 S/Neame Ales, but don't let that put you off.

Do yourself a favour & visit it.
Bang in the middle of great Kent Countryside

The Royal Standard, Croydon

If you want fantastic ale then this is THE place to get it.
Master Cellerman Status & very worthy of it.

Always have Pride, Chiswick, ESB, HSB on tap, as well as guest ales.
Bar snacks & food reasonably priced.

10/10

The Pilgrim, Caterham

Ps - its known to us locals as 'The Grim'

7 Jun 2012 18:14

The Ladybird, Caterham

It's ok.
This is an eatery with a bar, not a pub.
Full of families with kids, so if you like a quiet pint then avoid.

The Golden Lion, Caterham

Visited once & won't be back.
Much better pubs in area to drink, but avoid King & queen, & The Pilgrim.

The Pilgrim, Caterham

Full of lager louts.

Awful place & rubbish food.

7 Jun 2012 18:07

The Harrow Inn, Caterham

Great pub, drank here for a few years on & off.
Always 5-7 real ales on tap & a few lagers on tap as well.
London Pride, Flying Scotsman, Hob Goblin, Butcombe, Ringwood Best, Tribute. + more.
Friendly staff, landlord likes to keep noise in pub down, so family friendly.

Yes, the food is pricey, but would rather pay 10-12 for a fantastic main course as only pub in area with decent food.

They also throw a beer festival twice a year in April & Ocrober.

The King and Queen, Caterham

The Douglas Brunton Centre is an old peoples home.
I have drank at the K&Q for over 20 years & I have never known the beer to be so bad. Is there a Landlord/lady that can take this pub back to what it was a few years ago?
As for the clientele, it's full of mostly regulars who drink lager.
The real ale drinkers left for the blacksmiths, surrey hounds, the harrow & the ladybird a few months ago.
The bar staff are always changing & the cook likes to pick a fight (or 5).

Shame this drinking hole has gone down - hill.
As for TWG's comments, that must be a member of staff posting.
We had an event on The Jubilee weekend where the organisers always go for a beer after the event in the King & Queen.
This year the cook took it upon himself to turn everyone away.
I hope Fullers read this review.

All in all - 2/10 for the beer - 8/10 for the regulars.
