Well worth the journey to have a very good beer and lunch at very good value.
Great selection of beers and lagers.
Actually sat inside as it was too hot (for us ) in the SUN outside. Great friendly pub atmosphere without having tables ( in the bar area ) too close together.
There is a more formal dining area plus areas to sit at both front and back.
Will certainly be returning.

Have eaten there 5/6 times during last 3 months . Food always very good value.
Menu changes weekly (they say daily which might be accurate in some small detail)
Service very friendly and efficient . Atmosphere informal and friendly.
Booked to go as a group of 12 so will see how we get on but should be fine.

The pub was almost full at 13:00 when we arrived. But the free tables were pointed out to us.
There was a selection of 4/5 real ales.
There was a nice fire burning on a wet damp, dull day.
The staff were very cheery ,helpful and polite
We would echo the comments lout_from_the_lane with regard to the offerings of food. We also had desserts although they were pricey at 4.95.
You do need good eyesight to read the menus from the tables but they can be unhooked from the wall which solves that problem

Having visited this pub to eat some 4 times in the last 8 months I have always found the food very good although some part of the menus have been through degrees of change. On the previous occasion it was upmarket now it is back to pub grub but very good at that although I would have like a fish dish other than beer battered. The place was full , but so it should be on a Saturday night. The only quiblle I would have is that the vegetarian menu is behind you as you enter and this was not pointed out. Previously it was in the dining room as well. The service has improved as on previous occasions it was just not up to standard. No doubt we will return to be greeted by another change in menu no doubt.
