Completely agree with fredandcherry. The only amendment I would make is that I would have liked to have seen any service at all on my last four visits. On each occasion I have had long waits at an unattended bar, ignored by staff who wafted by. At their prices there should be one member of staff for each customer - never again!

The best food in an area which has little to offer in terms of either quality or value. Service very professional. Highly recommended, though not really as a pub.

Used to use this pub regularly but the service went from bad to worse. Everything revolves around making as much money as possible out of the food, and there is no pub atmosphere at all. The food itself is pretentious, average, and grossly overpriced. Try the White Hart in St. Giles village for real cooking.

Not a traditional English pub at all, but a comfortable place to meet up and chat. A good range of drinks and the food is much better than most chain pub fare. Used by all types and the sort of place where a lady can go for a glass of wine on her own and feel comfortable. Popular with lunching business people.

The White Hart, Chalfont St Peter
Is it appropriate for the landlady to write a review as a user? Don't think so, Rachel.

The Greyhound, Chalfont St Peter
Possibly the most pretentious pub in Buckinghamshire. Food is overpriced and overrated. Used to be a very atmospheric pub but now ruined.

The Ethorpe Hotel, Gerrards Cross
Pretentious and appalling, and full of people who think they are somewhere special - highly unlikely in a Chef & Brewer! It will be good company for the new Tesco opposite if and when it is finally built. If you are looking for a good pub Gerrards Cross is not a place to be - I know as I live next to it.

Thank you timb for expressing so eloquently what I feel about this pub and about the idiots who feel uneasy in there because they can't even string a coherent sentence together. Thank God the atmosphere frightens them away. Wetherspoons is definitely their rightful abode, and again I say, thank God.

The Catherine Wheel, Goring
My favourite pub at the moment - it has everything a good English country pub needs and is exceptionally well run. Although the restaurant is often extremely busy it doesn't detract from the pub atmosphere in any way and the food, by the way, is far better than any other pub food I have tasted. Of course, if you want instant McDonalds type garbage you won't find it here but the clientele are mostly much more appreciative of quality than that. Goring is fortunate in being well supplied with pubs but this is by far the best in the area.
