I recently stayed at the Ivy House, a very comfortable room, although it certainly looked more spacious in the pictures. Three hand pumps, 1 x something spring time and zesty, not to my taste and 2 x London Prides...? Why not have something else on instead? I was rescued by the bottled ESB in the fridge. A decent wine list. Now we come to the food, this for me is where the pub scored most highly, great quality, not too highly priced and a fully booked restaurant for the evening, which tells its own story. Friendly bar staff and landlord Alfie was very welcoming. Ade.The.Raider - 11 Mar 2015 15:22 |
Neo-rustic Fullers pub/restaurant on the main drag out of the poet Milton’s former stamping ground, Chalfont St Giles. It’s hard to find anything wrong with The Ivy House; the Fullers beers are in good nick, the surroundings clean and contemporary and the staff pleasant; it just all seems a little too ‘safe’. Overhearing a conversation about the Window Tax was a bonus if somewhat unexpected. Komakino - 7 Mar 2014 14:59 |
The Inn stands by the A413 which is to be expected as it is a 'coaching inn', decor is a little modern for the exterior, but food was great, wine list was good and the gardens (it was pretty hot so we 'al frescoed') were lovely, with spectacular views across farmland. True there were cars from time to time, but we hardly noticed them after a few minutes. Coronach - 23 Jul 2013 08:55 |
its clean and contemporary inside, but this place lacks any real charm or character. its a standard middle class identi-kit pub. the building itslef is very nice, but the interior is straight out of fullers marketing guidlines. the beers are decent, the food looks good. in the summer the views out the front onto the chiltern hills are wonderfull, untill a car flys past on the A413 two meters in front of you. overall nothing bad, but nothing special. Just passing by last night and decided to stop for a drink and something to eat. Staff were fantastic, pub very nice and food and drink were superb could not fault it at all . Will definetly return even though it is about 15 miles away. eltel - 24 Apr 2011 19:24 |
