The New Inn, Witney

Small range of changing real ales, but you can get a taster to make sure you order something you like. Slightly off the beaten track so could do with a web site to let people know what's going on.

Peartree Bridge Inn, Milton Keynes

It could be argued that the clientele arent the best to be associated with, but for value for money this place cant be beaten. 5.39 for a carvery meal and a pint of Bombardier is exceptional if not unique. The food quality is by no means the finest but much better than you might expect for 3.50. A large portion of meat (selection of beef, turkey and gammon) and as much veg (a good range including cheese cauliflower, though some may say some of the veg are over cooked) as you can consume are complimented by a range of sauces/gravy. The beer has always been fine, though a very limited range of ales. The only problem with this place is it can get busy. Ive been there twice now and ended up not eating (once was at 13:00 and the other at 20:00) because the queue was too long. Apparently pension day should be avoided at all costs as lots of slow people can be frustrating. Hidden away just yards from the A421, this place is well worth a visit if you're passing through.

The Moon Under Water, Milton Keynes

A typical Wetherspoon pub with the typical Wetherspoon prices attracting the typical Wetherspoon crowd. I haven't tried to food yet (though it can't be any worse than the kebab van outside) and do intend to try it some time. I tried several beers and my nightcap - JD & Coke (or just JD). All were served well and quick enough. My rating is based on drink only and is based on quality and price. I haven't tried this venue on it's most popular nights.

The Barge Inn, Woolstone

Having spent several evenings in The Barge (due to staying in a B&B very close by) I have eaten there several times and consumed many a pint of the local popular Bombardier. Food prices are average, as is quality. Although nothing to shout home about, it seems to be quite popular as a feeding venue and have a local crowd gathering regularly for a few pints. Even though the food is average, the good price on the Bombardier will see me returning many more times.

The Swan Inn, Milton Keynes Village

Called in to see what it was like, but surprised to see it fairly empty. Checking the time it was probably a bit early at 19:30 on a Monday. Bombardier seems to be the most common Ale in this area (excluding Tetleys), so a pint was ordered. As served, I was a little off-put by the price (3.00/pint where as my previous high price for this particular pint was in the region of 2.65), though it tasted fine and went down well. A quick glance at the menu didn't excite me and with to local regular beer being so over priced, I think I will avoid this place in the future. My rating reflects my disappointment in price.

The Turf Tavern, Oxford

You want ale, this is the place. 11 real ales on two bars, lots of guest beers and regular "Meet the Brewer" evenings. Also a beer festival that shows up the Oxford Beer Festival abortion!

Eagle Vaults, Witney

No ale on sale, very poor show! JD & Coke at a good price though! Nice totty too!

The Three Horseshoes, Witney

This is not a pub! It is a restaurant and you need to book a table!

The Royal Oak, Witney

Less than average. A pub should serve just drinks to anyone who wants them.

The New Inn, Witney

Good range of guest beers, live music every now and then. Just needs a bit of stability to events as a long way out of town and people just can't be bothered if they don't know what's happening.

The Eagle Tavern, Witney

Maybe the best place in Witney for beer. I mean *real* beer (ale)!

Cross Keys, Witney

Landlord thinks he knows everything about beer. Right...

The Fleece, Witney

Yet another yuppie bar/restaurant, but serve a good alternative to JD!

The Hollybush Inn, Witney

Bought out and turned from a great venue for live music into yet another yuppie bar/restaurant!
