This is an old Morland pub although it was I beiloive owned by Garne's Brewrey of Burford and then Courage. It now appear to be a free house and it has to be said very food-orientated although I was made welcome when I went just for a beer! Three on tap including XT2 from the newish brewrey at Thame. The bars have been "lightened" by use of paintwork so the traditional old wood panelling has not gone but been altered to give a brighter modern feel although there are still bits of the old pub left - note the ceiling by the bar counter. Well staffed on a Saturday when food is served all day (and Sunday). Worth a stop for a half! mcroyal - 23 Jun 2013 17:59 |
Despite my earlier comment about the new managers being "keen to attract real ale drinkers back" this pub has, I think, become exclusively a food-orientated establishment. I went in the other day, paid 3.20 for what appeared to be the "cheapest" ale on tap, and was then totally ignored by the staff. I got the distinct impression that mere drinkers were not welcome. stanley_C - 20 Nov 2011 19:42 |
Although it looks the part from the outside, the refurb tends to have lost that pub character feel. Still pleasant enough and the Everards Tiger was drinkable. anonymous - 4 Nov 2009 09:19 |
The Three Horse Shoes now has new owners and, while it is still a food-orientated establishment, the new managers seem keen to attract real ale drinkers back to this attractive, Cotswold-style pub. stanley_C - 27 Oct 2009 00:12 |
Refer to the Fleece, Hollybush etc. Almost identical to such places. thomashenry - 22 Dec 2008 13:47 |
