An evening visit to this friendly local found the beer in excellent condition. Worthing's Best Bitter (ABV 4%) from the Littlehampton based Anchor Springs Brewery was a very tasty starter. Harveys Dark Mild followed which was in fine condition. Sharp's Doom Bar was also sampled and up to scratch. Also available - Harveys Best Bitter and Bass. A pleasant evening in comfortable surroundings with a great range of top notch ales.

This pub has been demolished - another one bites the dust!

A lunchtime visit to this Good Beer Guide pub (has been in the guide for 26 years) did not fail to impress. A friendly welcome and a homely feel, it was all that a country pub should be. The selection of beers included Harveys Sussex Best Bitter, Ilkley Black (3.7% Mild), Welton's Pride & Joy and 1648 Bee-Head. Hepworth Conqueror Stout was seen on the row of fonts. There was also JB Cider, locally produced. The Welton's Pride & Joy and the Bee Head were in excellent condition. Well worth the visit and one to head for again.

A lunchtime visit to the Fountain found a well kept Harveys Best and Caledonian Smoked Porter (ABV 4.3%). Fullers London Pride and Wadworth 6X were also available. The food was excellent and well presented in a friendly atmosphere and considering it was a Sunday lunchtime, well cooked and delivered in good time by courteous staff.

A late afternoon visit (one of a few over the years) found this pub welcoming and relaxing. Cottage Bristol Bulldog was sampled and in good condition and served well. Harveys Sussex Best and Fuller's London Pride was also on tap. Harveys drunk in previous visits has always been well kept. Worth the visit and no doubt, won't be our last.

An update to my 2009 entry. This pub still retains all that was stated in 2009. A friendly local with the ale in top form. Cottage Vulcan from Somerset, Andwell's Spring Twist from Hampshire and Langham Hip Hop from West Sussex were in excellent condition (all sampled in a lunchtime session). Fuller's London Pride was also on tap. Well worth the visit that did not disappoint.

A late Friday afternoon visit to the Snowdrop and well worth it. Friendly staff and locals with a great range of beers. A decorative interior with a 'canal boat' painted theme. Dark Star (American Pale Ale, Hophead, Rye & Juniper and Black Coffee Pilsner) and Harveys (1859 Porter and Best) dominated the Real Ales along with Hepworths Conqueror Stout noticed on the Fonts. The Porter, APA and Black Coffee Pilsner were on top form. Missed out on the Rye & Juniper which was replaced with a Dorking Brewery Ale. Nice people and great ale - happy days.

First time back to the Trevor Arms since the change of ownership. Friendly lunchtime welcome to a pub which seems to be in a 'work in progress' phase. No public bar but the dart board survives. It has been refurbished but not drastically (except for the public bar). We were there for the beer so cannot comment on the food. Harveys Best and Hadlow Down were available with the Best being in top form. Worth visiting again.

An annual revisit to the Trevor Arms finds it as it was a year ago - welcoming, friendly, cosy and still serving Harvey's in top form. If the changes have been made then they are subtle and certainly not detrimental. A classic pub to visit after a winters trek over the downs.

What a gem The Swan is - a warm welcome, pleasant atmosphere, friendly locals and Harvey's in top form. A classic pub and well worth a visit.

Spent quite a few hours in this genial and friendly pub yesterday. The service was quick and pleasant, the beer was excellent (Harveys Old and Sussex Bitter). The dcor (in the public bar) seemed as in previous visits - clean but with that cosy 'lived in' feeling. I would recommend this charming rural pub which gives a warm welcome and serves Harveys in top form.

What a cracking, traditional English pub. Creeper clad this inviting pub is clean and welcoming with a friendly atmosphere and well kept ales. Scrubbed wood flooring with furniture to match is enhanced by an open fire - nice to have when walking on a classic but chilly autumn day.
Ales on tap were Fullers London Pride, Adnams Southwold Bitter, Skinners Betty Stogs Bitter and Hammerpot Madgwick Gold. Both the Betty Stogs and Madgwick were on good form (and this was soon after Sunday lunchtime opening).
A new entry for the 2010 GBG and well deserved. We will return asap.

The Coach and Horses, Compton
A pleasant welcome and a range of four real ales added to the picturesque location of this village pub. First in just after opening time and the beer was a perfect temperature. Ales on tap were Bowman - Swift One (3.8%), Long Man - Old Man (4.3%), Ringwood Boondoggle 4.2% and Andwell - Ruddy Darter (4.6%). The Bowman, Long Man and Andwell were very tasty - well worth the visit to this cosy friendly pub.
