I always go there If i fancy adding that bit of spice to my Saturday evening that the Crown sometime leaves out. Cant beat it for a bit of atmosphere. What spoils it is the Chavs & pikeys that fester there.

Well decorated, clean with freindly.Typical ember Inn really. Freidnly staff too. Good pub for my regular drink on a Friday afternoon. Always has seemed to come a close second to the crown...I probably think that because im a Shirley boy to be fair.

What can I say, it has 10 regular locals who keep the place going, 2 tables and about 3 seats. Looks derelict inside and out. At the weekend, its where all the under age Langley girls and boys go! Run away Run away!

whatever happened to the Sandrock??!! It used to be a really lively place full of young poeple with a good armosphere. It must have just died when that generation moved on in the late 90s. Good food saves it though.

My first drinking hole in the mid 90s. Was Friendly then. Has sinse developed a nasty un-welcoming atmosphere. Smokey, dirty. The beer garden is a tiny slab of concrete. The Shirley "Bin" is one to miss. Walk the extra 100 yards up the road to the Crown!

My Local and an excellent pub. Its the sort of pub where you can go to with anyone, your friends, your family. Food is not always top notch but better than many chain pubs. The atmosphere can vary as with any pub in this area. However, its hard to beat for atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday evening. I do and always will have many fond memories of happy summer evening in the garden. I do work in 1500 Mitchell & Butler pubs in and around London, The crown is in the top 10 of those easily. Great Pub.

Yes, its not as clean and tide as the Railway and yes it get so smokey you cant see the bar and yes, the beer is expensive and wine needs a mortgage. However, what saves it is the entertainment they have. I have seen a couple of excellent bands there and had a really good evening. Worth sitting in the garden in the summer and having a laugh at the people walking by and the middle aged people sitting at the lights in there BMW convertables bobbing there head to Ultra Vox on there stereo, while looking around to see whos looking at them!
