Large Ember Inn, very close to West Wickham station. Very much geared towards food / families eating, which inevitably leads to long queues at the beer. Rathers annoying as it's just by the station so had dropped by for a quick one whilst waiting for a train Visited on on a Monday which is Ember Inn £2.49 for ale day which was a bonus. southlondonbeero - 31 Dec 2016 12:42 |
Decent food and good range of beer. Service a bit slow at the bar with staff not great at identifying who is next. Nothing remarkable as such other than a gathering of young males who like a bit of banter and get proper mugged off when somebody cuts them up on the Addington Road. Probably given to a cheeky Magners now and then. Wear Gant shoes. No socks. terenced - 6 Jun 2016 09:45 |
Pretty busy on the Thursday evening I visited this food led pub for a few beers with a pal before football locally. Opposite the station in a perfect location, the pub occupies a large plot and has plenty of outside seating separated from the road by a white picket fence. Inside the décor is netural and homely with plenty of tables and chairs for diners, aswell as stools and high tables. 6 hand pumps with 4 ales on. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter was drinkable but its worth noting all the ales are from gravity. The first time I have been here and it’s decent enough and in a handy location for the station. Food was of course popular, I didn’t look at the menu to check prices but it looked good from the plates I saw served up. lezford - 18 Aug 2015 11:38 |
This is a busy pub, serving a large area of west wickham. However the bar staff leave a lot to be desired. We normally go here most Friday early evenings. This last few weeks we have had staff who cough and sneeze into their hands and then serve customers without washing their hands, There is a large container under the bar for empty bottles, and one member of staff in particular likes to throw the bottles in there. Now Nick Lowe might like empty beer bottles crashing into a container, but it's not very nice when you are trying to have a chat. Then this week, we ordered a few pints of Peroni, and when asked to top one of them up to the pint mark, this was met by a look and attitude as if we has asked something outrageous. At over £4 a pint, I want a full pint. Without sniggering from staff. They have just lost our custom. The Jolly Woodman in Beckenham is a bit of a trek, but it's a proper pub, and that's where we will be on Fridays from now on. Dymchurchdaytripper - 14 Jun 2013 20:57 |
This is truly an awful pub. Although i have not eaten there so can't personally comment on the food, while standing at the bar I overheard someone else asking for their bill to be reduced because of poor quaility. It's devoid of any atmosphere other than its plastic decoration and I think I had my worst ever pint of London Pride there last night. Don't even think about going there. colinc - 30 Sep 2011 09:40 |
