Popped in one lunchtime for a bite to eat. Looked like a gathering of the local women's institute. Good atmosphere, great food & good prices. All served up by friendly & helpful staff. Might give it a try in the evenings again. Let's see if they've managed to sort out the troublemakers.

Not worth a visit I'm afraid to say. 10-15 years ago, this place was a decent place to go for a drink. All you get now is poor service by young, clueless staff who prefer to have a chit-chat with the few sad regulars standing at the bar rather than provide a quality service to other customers. At the time of writing, this pub charges 3.30 for a pint of Stella and is quiet. The Greave Dunning charges 2.95 and is full of customers. On a positive note, the food is quite nice. No sign of any "management" on the premises whatsoever.

I've been meaning to visit this pub for a few years after being recommended by a friend. My wife and I popped in one Saturday lunchtime. In short, an excellent pub offering excellent food. The beer garden at the front looked like a nice place to be on a summer's day. Service was very good, the staff were welcoming, friendly & polite. Portions are massive, possible a bit too much unless you're feeling really hungry. We just had a snack. The main courses being served on adjacent tables looked superb. Most standard main courses are 8.95. Obviously, you'll pay a lot more for steak. I didn't try the beer. I opted to take a very nice pot of tea. We'll defintely come back again to sample to the beer and food. By the way, the area is great for finding out how good your Satnav is. Loads of windy roads, connecting motorways (M53 and M56), and a canal. I was just waiting for my TomTom to say "forget it, I'm not in the mood". Our very own Bermuda Triangle.

When this place first opened, they were desperate for business (and still are).
As a result, they allowed in the people who had been banned from the 3 local pubs (i.e. druggies, troublemakers, loudmouthed yobbo's and p*ssheads). I've lost count how many times I've seem trouble at this place. Disgracefully, the staff sometimes turn a blind eye because they know the people involved or they just hope it goes away. The female staff seem incapable of handing "situations".
Most of the time in the evening, this place is dead and has no atmosphere,
compared to the 3 other local pubs which always seems to be busy.
We went to the 2009 New Year Party (we usually go for a good old knees up at the the Greave Dunning opposite). What a disaster. Not enough chairs, freezing cold (they had lost the key to shut a window), not enough food and surprise, surprise, more trouble. I wrote a letter of complaint but didn't get a reply. 20 per person for a naff night out. We and others haven't been back since.
It's very popular with smokers who stand right by the door and allow the wind to blow it all back in. They constantly come in and out all night so best if you bring a warm coat in winter and an oxygen tank.
On a positive note, when it's busy and there's a band on, it's really good.
Good place to go for a daytime coffee when the troublemakers are at work or signing on at the local dole office. The food is good but main meals finish too early so you have to have tapas.
This place is currently being extended (again). Probably to accommode the troublemakers and smokers.
If you got rid of the owers and banned the idiots then the place could be a lot, lot better.

The Benjamin Satchwell, Leamington Spa
Popped in one lunchtime whilst on holiday. Big mistake.
Waited patiently for over 5 minutes to get served. Eventually, I was forced to say something to the dozy, ear-ring freak of a barman who was standing right in front of me. No queuing system whatsoever. Free-for-all.
I told him that he was a useless tw*t and left. He said "come back soon". Went to a nearby pub and got served immediately. No surprise there. Dreadful service at this pub. One of the worst Wetherspoons that I've visited.

Excellent, little, sandstone pub.
Very good beer.
Good value for money food.
This is a very popular pub with the older generation!!
Try the Farmer's Arms on a Wednesday night if you are looking for some "fun". Unoffiicial singles night - a "must do" lifetime event.

Ellies Wine Bar, Greasby
My wife persuaded to me to visit this establishment again. I reluctantly agreed. On entering, I noticed some loud mouthed yobbo's at the bar who were chatting to the manager and the staff. It didn't take long for them to start using the "F" word.
Swearing is acceptable here. The manager is a wimp who puts profits first.
The food & service wasn't as good as normal. Expensive lager. You live and learn.
