Had lunch here today. Meal fine. I drank a pint of Sharps Doombar which was well kept. Black Sheep Bitter, Holts Bitter and Flowers IPA and Thatchers Gold cider also available as well as Guinness and Eurofizz. A bit pricey but a nice, country pub. Has anyone else noticed that the northwest of England has been flooded with Sharps Doombar since Coors bought Sharps? Is Doombar still brewed in Cornwall or is it now mass produced in Burton on Trent? wirraldrinker - 11 Apr 2012 16:36 |
I've been meaning to visit this pub for a few years after being recommended by a friend. My wife and I popped in one Saturday lunchtime. In short, an excellent pub offering excellent food. The beer garden at the front looked like a nice place to be on a summer's day. Service was very good, the staff were welcoming, friendly & polite. Portions are massive, possible a bit too much unless you're feeling really hungry. We just had a snack. The main courses being served on adjacent tables looked superb. Most standard main courses are 8.95. Obviously, you'll pay a lot more for steak. I didn't try the beer. I opted to take a very nice pot of tea. We'll defintely come back again to sample to the beer and food. By the way, the area is great for finding out how good your Satnav is. Loads of windy roads, connecting motorways (M53 and M56), and a canal. I was just waiting for my TomTom to say "forget it, I'm not in the mood". Our very own Bermuda Triangle. Nice pub, decent ales and friendly staff. The food menu is supplemented by a huge specials board - too big in some ways - but the food was good and tasty. jeff1637 - 21 Mar 2010 22:31 |
I can get the rating up ! A typical pleasant rural food-led pub, with typcal Cheshire decor, and very good Flowers (more exotic choices were available !). A bit quiet, given closeness to shopping centre. mtaylor40 - 4 Feb 2010 22:27 |
Great old fashioned 'inn' sooo rural, considering, where it is; Cheshire Oaks, M53 M56 and Stanlow and so on, If Alan can't run a decent Real ale pub no one can! Take care you may very well meet 'er next door out with her bit on the side tho! 0nceablue1955 - 10 Dec 2009 16:38 |
