Beer is always well kept and the staff are always very pleasent. The food is usually very good but stay away from the fish courses as not always that fresh. That said they probably do the best sunday lunch around by a mile

Another centuries old pub that's had the guts ripped out of it and turned in to an Ikea show room. Unfortunately the pub looks dated already and the food is way to expensive for what it is. Also a word of caution for those of you with a short temper. If you see a middle aged long haired brunette behind the bar just walk straight back out as she is possibly the rudest woman I have ever encountered behind a bar. She was also the talk of the garden as the next 4 families that left the building all commented on her attitude problem. If you hate people that much why would you work in a pub. On the plus side I dont have to wake up to her every morning.

The Horns Lodge, South Chailey
Me and my girlfriend stayed here overnight and can honestly say this is one of the best pubs I have ever been too. 4 varied real ales all in good condition and Hecks cider (the best somerset cider) on tap. Food was fantastic, reasonbly priced and the couple that run the pub actually like people and enjoy having a chat with the customers which is bloody rare in the pub industry.
Even if your just passing pop in and have 1 drink you will love it.

The review below must of been an off day as this really is a great little pub and what makes it great is its all about beer which in this day and age of gastro pubs almost makes this a theme bar.
Also one of the only pubs around that holds 2 beer festivals and a cider festivals.

Great little hidden secret. Well looked after ale and great local cider. Food is very cheap and basic but all home cooked. The thing that really makes this pub are the landlords who have given us a warm welcome both times.

Good home cooked food, a good selection of local ales (well looked after), and lunch for two (two main meals and two drinks) came too 14, what more can you ask for. Also one of the only pubs in Somerset that actually sells a farmhouse cider.
P.S great selection of books on the shelves aswell.

Apparently this pub does not have a ladies night and the chalk board I saw advertising a ladies night up against the pub last year must of been for anouther venue (according to the landlord).
Maybe it was for Squires gardening centre across the road.

'A Modern Pub with Traditional Values'
This pub has a ladies night. Traditonal Values?
Avoid

Wickipedia
"Tapas are small quantities of food sold (or given for free) with a drink in Spain"
Not for 6 a dish on Twickenham Green.

If you go to this pub on a rainy windy night in the winter its 10 out of 10.
If you go in the summer when all the Estate agents are out with their kids its just bloody awful.
6 Oct 2006 14:10
Always someone outside spitting. I don't know why, I think its how thick people mark their territory.

The Prince of Wales, Twickenham
Best pub garden in Twickenham and always features a guest ale which they really look after. Even when the football is on this pub is still nice.
6 Oct 2006 13:52
Is it a restraunt? Is it a pub? Is it a function room? Or is it just bloody awful?

Only been here once when the new landlord took over. He decided to stand by our table and comment on every single mouthful me and my partner ate.
Eat a piece of potato..."what do you think of the potatoes"
Eat a piece of Lamb....."what do you think of the lamb" and on and on.
If I want an overtly gay man to watch me eat and tell me how good it is I will make my way to Clapham Common on a Sunday night (times and fees vary)

Chiken Tikka for 2.99.....That is actually impossible. Avoid
5 Oct 2006 15:39
Really good Sunday lunch only ruined by Sky Sports being turned up so loud its at that point where your ear drums rattle a little.
5 Oct 2006 15:38
Best thing about this pub is the stunning view, a cross roads.
5 Oct 2006 15:35
Used to be really good but you are better off down the Fox these days
5 Oct 2006 15:33
Saturday night always looks like a estates agents Christmas party. Also the kind of staff too busy being cool (jumping over the bar...dear lord) to offer good service.
5 Oct 2006 15:29
Nice pub when its empty but awfull when full up...hang on thats all pubs

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers
Anyone that can find fault with a pub that has a cider menu, only sells pasties and has its own museum with a stuffed alligator really is better of down at All Bar one sipping cocktails with assistant financial advisors, eating Nachos and trying to work out if you too could pull of the long hair and moustache combination as sported by Colin Farrell in Miami Vice with out looking even more like an idiot as you already do with a mullet (Its not ironic its just bxxxxxxs).
Best Pub in England.
PS Don't make the mistake we did and down a pint of Weston's in 5 minutes...you will die

"Actually they don't serve cocktails."
Lady on the phone just told me they do around 5 cocktails. But then again what does she know hey?

Truly the best pub around. When I visited this pub I was firstly struck by how many real ales they had on (round about 6 constantly changing) and then secondly by the type of people that visit this pub. One table had two men arguing about politics, anouther the decline of Great Britain and the third table was 5 men arguing about duck eggs......now Ill be buggered if thats not a good pub

The Tide End Cottage, Teddington
This is the best pub in Teddington by a mile. I have only just realised that after reviewing every single pub in Teddington. Its quiet but not dead, the bar staff are friendly but not asking your for your life story, it's right next to the river and they always have a few well looked after ales.
Oh and the locals all stand around the bar like they are going to rush the bar maid as soon as she drops her tea towel (except they would never make it over the bar at their age). Perfect

As you will see from my other reviews I have pretty much drunk in every single pub in the surrounding area APART FROM THIS ONE.
Everytime I touch the door handle a cold chill falls over me and I can't actually get the nerve to walk in.
If you dont believe me go there.....but stick to the path
27 Oct 2005 12:12
I have drunk (and been) in this pub many times and I dont know why. I keep going back to it like a child to an electricity socket. I know its bad but watch me crawl back again and again.

The Park Lodge Hotel, Teddington
Read the review from James (2 down) to trully understand why this is one of the worst places to drink in Teddington. Good Rioja.....Dear Lord
27 Oct 2005 12:02
Not a bad pub but with a little effort could be a great pub if they sort the food out. Overpriced and a bit dry
27 Oct 2005 12:00
Full of people that work in city and ride mountain bikes with all the gear at weekends.
A WINE BAR
27 Oct 2005 11:57
Was a really poor old mans pub.
Drum roll
Now a really poor GASTRO PUB.
27 Oct 2005 11:53
A place were 45 year old single women go with their friends to feel like they are in an episode of Sex In The City.
Oh and its a RESTRAUNT
27 Oct 2005 11:51
Where to begin with this god forsaken pit.
First off probably not one person behind the bar knows how to make a cocktail or any drink that involves remembering more than 2 ingredients as the landlord has employed young sparkling little girls who spend there days hoping someone from a modelling agency will come in and take them away from everything.
Next up is the kids bonanza hour (Daily from 3 till 4).
Throughout this hour the pub completely fills up with screaming kids and young mothers who's biggest challenge in life is getting to 1000 on who wants to be a millionaire.
Oh and don't go for Sunday lunch as
A: Its a bit dry
B: You wont get served
27 Oct 2005 11:49
Great little pub and niceley tucked away off the highstreet. Barstaff were very friendly and the decor was dark..just how I like it.

The Bridge End Inn, Crickhowell
Turns out it wasn't a bad day as i went to this pub last weekend and every member of staff was not just miserable but rude. The look the landlady gave me because my foot was sticking out an inch under the table was practically a scowl. The bold barman just ignored us and then kept sighing every time we asked for anything extra. Why you would work with the public if you don't like them I have no idea. Just don't bother with this miserable lot. And the food is poor.
