Dropped in Saturday lunchtime as it was on our cycle route. Always wary of GK, but this is indeed a good pub. Not cheap, but tried 4 of the six ales on and they were all very good. Friendly bar staff too. Food was fine and well presented. It was quiet when we were there so it was all very comfortable.

My choice of pub in Wimborne. Always good beer and excellent Sunday lunches.

Visit St Ives every year and have to confess to generally frequentling The Sloop which is all rather touristy and average. Dropped in here a couple of days ago and have to agree with the other comments posted. A real pub with friendly service and the best real ale quality and variety I have had in St Ives.
No more Sloop for me in future.

The Butchers Arms, Kings Sutton
Wandered in at lunchtime while on a narrowboat trip. Beer garden pleasant. Seemed to be mainly locals inside. Beer was fine - whole experience was 'OK'

Visted last weekend when on a narrowboat trip. Very nice looking pub inside and out. We had not booked and there was a table free but they would not take our food order until all the booked tables had ordered and been served. They were busy and clearly at capacity and it took more than an hour and a half to get our meal - which to be fair was good when we received it. Had a couple of pints of Hook Norton which were fair but a bit on the 'flat' side. Agree with the other comments about this not being a 'locals' pub.

Visited this canalside pub last weekend whilst on a narrowboat trip. Had a couple of very nice pints of Old Hooky. Very convenient for boaters and lots of facilities but the pub could do with a bit of maintenance and seemed a little tired.

Visited this pub which is very close to the canal side last Sunday evening when we moored up nearby. Run by a young team who were pleasant & friendly. Dog welcomed inside. Interesting building that has some holiday cottages in the grounds. Big log fire in one of the two bars. Had a couple of excellent pints of Hook Norton 303 - didn't eat there.

Always looked inviting from the roadside so called in on this trip to St Ives. Some character in the front part of the pub which I presume is the original part. Did not eat but beer was fine - out of season so nice and quiet inside with just locals.

Dropped in for a couple of pints yesterday when checking out the small camper van / caravan site attached. Pleasant inside with some character - food being dominant. 4 ales on - tried the Palmers and also the Vicars Ruin guest which was out of the barrel. Both good.

Bankes Arms Hotel and Country Inn, Studland
Paid a visit here last Saturday while out walking. Been here a few times over the years as live not too far away and agree with most of the posted comments re service. Many real ales on - probably too many. Always watch someone elses pint being drawn before I order one myself as the quaility can be hit and miss. Did manage to have a very good pint this time though. Excellent location but personally all a bit too popular/touristy for my preferences.

Yachtsmans Arms, Brightlingsea
Popped in for a quick drink while on holiday. It had to be quick as they shut in the afternoon and called time just after we arrived. Had a Speckled Hen which was fine - although turned out to be keg not draught. No chance to check out the real ales that were on.

Met with relatives here last week while on holiday - it is their local. Good setting and pleasant garden with views. Fairly disinterested bar staff although it was Monday evening and we were the only customers. Tried all the real ales on (3) and all very average - clear, but passed their best no doubt due to the lack of sales.

Called in while waiting for the train at Cheshunt station last week. We had a dog with us and saw there were no dogs allowed inside which is fine so we headed for the beer garden at the back. We were told (by locals not the bar staff) no dogs allowed anywhere on the premises so we beat a retreat to the front outside where there are a couple of tables. Had a quick half which was OK, but a bit past it's best.

Went in last week while waiting for the train at Cheshunt. Close to the station and looks more inviting than the The Red Cow or Windmill which are opposite. Appeared clean and tidy inside. The pint of McMullens was OK although it had a little sediment. Altogether averagely acceptable.

Called in here last week as we were visiting relatives who live in the same road. No real ales so just had a quick half and sat in the beer garden in the afternoon. Bar staff cheery and helpful, but the pub is a bit 'played out' and tired. Lots of cheap beer offers and big TVs if that is your thing.

Was in Greenwich today for work and was taken here for lunch and a pint. Excellent views of the Thames and a great spot - unfortunately that is about it. Ordered Adnams, but it had plenty of sediment so it was changed when asked to Flowers - which was OK but nothing brilliant. The pint was changed without a problem - the look on the bar staff faces said they did not think there was anything wrong with it.
Colleague ordered the 10 burger which arrived quickly enough, but had a burnt roll and was overcooked. Looking at other reviews for pubs in Greenwich, there must be better places to go.

The Foresters Arms, Brockenhurst
Was in Brockenhurst for the weekend and tried here, Snakecatcher and Rose & Crown. Beer was good but not excellent and around 3.50 like the other two I visited. Busy garden maybe due to loud rap music being played inside. All OK but not outstanding.
