Have discovered this perfect traditional village pub fairly recently. It "ticks all the boxes" and is now the firm family favourite. 1. Great food, reasonably priced and served in good time by friendly staff. 2. A particularly well-kept pint of Guinness and a selection of hand-drawn ales that represent very good value. 3. Ancient honey-coloured local stone and thatch in a tranquil, picturesque village opposite ancient church and alongside canal. 4. Friendly locals, charming hosts. Possibly Oxfordshire's best kept secret. Shhhhh........Don't tell anyone. MikeMercury - 14 Jun 2013 16:01 |
Ok, this is the quinisential english country pub with thached roof, canal a feww yards away, church opposite....get the picture? I;ve popped in here a couple of times whilst visiting friends and havefound the staff on both occassions to be friendly and cheerful. The beers are weel kept and various visiting ales are on sale. there is a garden at the rear, toilets are clean. Nice pub, will be back. Adrian_S - 4 Aug 2011 15:00 |
We popped in here from our boat for a quick drink and some lunch this weekend. I ordered 2 x lime cordial & soda waters at the bar, with the intention of ordering beers and bar food shortly, but when the bill for 2 x lime cordials (as in a glass with water, some ice, a dash of lime cordial from a plastic bottle, and carbonated tap water from the coke machine, not a bottle of mineral water) came out, it was 5.20 for 2 glasses. 2.60 a glass. Ive had cheaper pints of beer, and a lot of beer is duty & tax. I cant believe it cost them more than 15p, which is why in most pubs its like 50p or 1. Ridiculously over-priced drinks, combined with rather surly service, meant we just enjoyed our soft drinks and skipped lunch and beer. The food looked quite nice, but I dont appreciate being RIPPED OFF for soft drinks, so they can forget my business in future. If you are looking for recommendations of pubs in Croperdy, do yourself a favour, save some money, and go elsewhere bcalvert - 1 Aug 2011 16:26 |
Quaint well kept thatched pub, nicely furnished with comfortable lounge, restaurant and bar areas. Serves a limited range of real ales. Food looked good although I didn't eat at the pub myself. Small, nice beer garden, limited parking. Definately geared up for the canal holiday makers and tourists, which isn't a bad comment as that demands a higher standard to compete. Well worth a visit. Toilet marks: 7/10. Adrian_S - 26 Jul 2010 16:05 |
