Described by my wife as "an old man's pub", but in the nicest possible way, as it is friendly, busy and traditional. It concentrates on one thing only; serving decent beer at the most reasonable prices and the staff understand their product and serve it well. Their own beers will never disappoint lovers of pale and hoppy. It is our local and known affectionately as "The Bottom Welly" so it does not get confused with " The Top Welly"!

The pub is home to The Brew Company beers too. As well as great cask beers they also have a good range of cider and perry. Normally live music at the weekends. Known to we locals as The Manchester after its former name.

The Blythe Hill Tavern, Forest Hill
Having lived in the area for years and walked past the door without going in ever, I was intrigued when it won our Camra Branch pub of the year. I can see why; lovely garden; unspoiled interior; beers in top nick (Landlord, Harvey's Best and Westerham Summer Perle when I last went) but what gets it for me is this is topped off by first class SERVICE. A pub not to be missed if you are in the SE23/SE6 borders.

A big thank you to Hoopers for sponsoring some beer for the Catford Beer Festival this year. If you haven't tried this bar yet, perhaps the following will tempt you. These beers will be appearing through July and this is a good selection of decent ales. Each time I have been there, the Harvey's Best, has been in tip-top condition.
Next on is Dark Star Best Bitter , followed by Oakleaf Bitter, Alton's Pride,
Rebellion IPA, Crouch Vale Brewers Gold, Harveys Tom Paine and Dark Star's Summer Solstice
They will also have Weston's Scrumpy Cider

Went for the Quiz last night and the beer selection was as good as I can remember; two great,hoppy and light bitters especially deserve mention. And in top nick too.

Just had my first visit to this pub, newly opened as Hoopers Bar and Cafe. Friendly landlord; clean and refitted; bright and airy PLUS good quality beers on sale. They are having a beer festival from 4-7 May including a range of foreign beers. This place has to be an oasis in this area. Well recommended.

I regularly visit this pub; now it cannot be said that Harveys is my favourite brewer......but the beer has always been in top nick when I have been.

I went to the Belgian Beer night they had last night and it was great; loads of food and a big range of beers. The place was pretty packed, so I imagine it was a success.

Under new management by Anmolia and Adam, but with the previous owners keeping a watchful eye in the wings. Last night was a brilliant "curry and a pint" night for �6.99 and the place was packed. Up and coming attractions include the Pickle festival on 26th November (bring your own home made pickle, bread or artwork to be judged) and after Christmas a Belgian beer tasting evening.
Don't come here for loud music and a massive sky sports screen
Do come here for decent food in the evening, 5 beers on draught and a big range of bottled Belgian beers served in a friendly atmosphere.

Mount Pleasant, Sheffield
A really pleasant little boozer. Ale choice is limited by comparison with the Sheffield heavyweights, but this a real community pub with at least 4 pumps on at all times. Last time we went in, there was a meeting of the local angling club who were a smashing group of lads and typify the warm welcome we have always experienced when we go there.
Norton Lees is a bit of a beer desert and this place brightens up Derbyshire Lane no end.
