Under going a serious make over at great cost by Greene King not sure what the result will be.

The Town Hall Tavern, Chertsey
Maintains a good pint of Guardsman from Eton and Windsor brewery so Locale a well London Pride which is quite run of the mill. Nice to see another Locale beer if and when trade supports. it. Generally a mature crowd at early doors.

Well the trade description was correct "Mushroom on Toast" at what is now either a novel variation of gastro or a theme pub. Gastro is now nano cuisine and theme is orienteering if you order the above item at nearly 6. Whilst I am assured it was tasty by those who ordered it unless you have 20/20 vision ask for an accurate grid reference so you can find your food, not good on navigation then ask for a guide. Whilst the beer remains good, some menu options are clearly very poor value and will not encourage repeat custom from comments heard.

The Dove across town is providing some competition on the beer front with 6 handpumps but not on the food front apart from good scratchings.
Needs to pull its socks up on service at the bar from time to time.

Visited last week, friendly, good range of Buffy's beers available, pump and gravity. Well it is their brewery tap. Short menu chalked up, food prepared to order and worth the wait

Just what Bury needed, pity the occasional GK brew appears but needs must and at least the other 5 pulls are not GK. Like the half pint of scratchings idea, a first move into home catering by Roger bent on proving his presentation skills. Remember to ask for something out of the cellar just to keep the old boy fit!

Still remains my local, regular staff attentive and often ready to discuss the merits of the ales on offer and hand over a sample to aid discussion. Despite the shortages of certain hops Joe has become more consistant with his brews but still gets a bit touchy if the regulars pass comment at times. Still a good experience.

French landlord who is into real ale, 10p discount with a Camra card. Not yet tried the food but will this week I hope. Generally a warm welcome when the landlord and lady are behind the bar other than Monday

Front room pub with a varied crowd of supporters, kept in their place by Mick the Hat. A throw back to yester year so don't try to change a bygone age, it has its charms and its following and that includes the pub as well! A gem

Been visiting weekly for last few weeks, not the best spoons I have encountered, mediocre beer, mediocre staff, mediocre service but better than the competition, JUST. Bicesters best pubs are out of town from what I have experienced, the town ones all seems to vie for mediocracy and do well at it.

Well wandered in early on a Monday evening and ordered a pint of Hobgoblin. As often was asked for payment before pint appeared over the bar, 2.70. The pint that appeared was probably the worst looking pint I have been offered in many a year. The barmaid seemed truely oblivious to the crap she had just poured and had to seek approval from another member of staff to refund my money. Well that was a pub to give a wide berth to in future. The other member of staff was unclear whether it was a first or last pint than had been poured but did turn the clip around. All in all clueless and unconcerned staff when it comes to a decent pint of real ale. Wychwood please note.

Clinical decor, good selection of beers and lagers, managed to get our lager boy on to something to challenge his tastebuds last week thanks to the selections available.

The Hunters Inn, Pool in Wharfedale
Interesting bungalow/roadhouse. Nine handpumps up each with a small sample glass next to it to give you a colour clue. We sampled 7 of the beers, all in good condition. Not really busy on our visit but the trade must fair to support 9 pumps. Did not sample the specials food board but offering good value it seems.

Muse Ale and Wine Bar, Wetherby
Excellent source of real ale and interesting lagers in Wetherby. Staff friendly and generally helpful. NO TV or loud music so ideal for conversation in a smart interior. Same company has the Mitre Hotel next to Knaresborough Station.

Reopened in April 2009 with a micro brewery, it had been my local for several years prior to 2005. Small menu all freshly cooked but lacking in choice for vegetarians. On the day of my visit both hand pumps in use for Adnams bitter and their own brew. Both were pulled with excessive amounts of froth and were cloudy, bottom of the barrel? They did not see it as a problem, it will be for them if it puts customers off! I am back to the Old Cannon
