| The Cherry Tree is situated in a rural area a couple of miles outside Wymondham. The lady that runs the place is extremely friendly. Her partner is the brewer for Buffy's. All 3 ales were from the brewery - Buffy's Ale, Norfolk Terrier & Polly's Folly. I tried the ale which was brought from the cellar. It was a little cloudy, but still very nice. We ordered food and it made a refreshing change to be able to order whatever we wanted, rather than be tied from a menu. Although they do have a blackboard with a list of their pies - I tried the lamb & rosemary which was very nice indeed. Meals came with chips or potatoes and either peas or beans. Good, basic pub grub. My only minor comment would be that the chips were a little on the crispy side. Locals were also friendly and happy to engage in conversation. This is clearly a good community pub. A good selection of board game was also available. It was mildly amusing to see the one local guy attempt to exit the pub with his Sunday lunch, only to completely miss the door and walk into the wall. But he'd clearly had an enjoyable afternoon in the pub. The landlady described this as a pub with food, as opposed to a restaurant with ales, as a lot of the local pubs have been forced to become. I would say that this pretty much sums the Cherry Tree up and it's the sort of pub I prefer - food should really be secondary in a pub. If in the area, give this pub a try. | For those of you who enjoy real ale then you must visit the Cherry Tree pub in the village of Wicklewood near Wymondham to sample beer brewed by local brewery Buffy's. The two different beers I drank were in excellent condition which I think is down to the fact that the head brewer and his wife manage the pub. They both made my wife and I very welcome and it’s a shame such friendly service coupled with very good beers is a rarity in pubs these days. | A lovely friendly pub where landlady Julie serves excellent beers from Buffy's micro brewery. Went there last night for the fortnightly jam night - a great fun night which attacts musicians and audience from far and wide.
