The Black Cock Inn, Caerphilly
I had read about this Inn and about it's food on quite a few websites as it is very popular.
We arrived about 20:40 so we were just in time as they stop stop serving at nine. We were made very welcome and certainly made to feel at home. We got some drinks and settled down with the menu while enjoying a great pint.
After studying the menu for some time i opted for the Mixed grill.
It Has to be one of if not the best mixed grill i have had. there was plenty off it with Sirloin Steak, Gammon, Lamb Cutlet, Pork Steak, Black pudding, Sausage, Eggs and some lovely home made chips. It was really delicious, my friend had lamb shank with mash and fresh veg.
I would certainly like to visit again, if you get there before 19:00 you can get 2 meals for the price of one.

The Five Alls is another pub in Chepstow that we called in on a recent visit. It is another old building and has been a pub since 1849.
It reminds me of a student pub as it has advertisements for Wii competitions and Guitar Hero. The seem to play mostly rock music which suits me fine. It was early evening on a Tuesday when i went in and it was quiet but i think it will be quite a lively pub at weekends.

This lovely pub is opposite the Castle car park and is a must if you visit Chepstow. It looks nice from the outside and it's fantastic on the inside. friendly service, great beer and some lovely food on offer in this lovely Old pub that dates from 1791.
We had a few drinks in here as it was so relaxing and welcoming. Even the pub dog (Barney) was great and quite a little character.
Although the only food we had was some Bara Brith i would love to call back and eat here as the food on offer looked fantastic and they serve the now famous Minister pies.

The Travellers Rest, Caerphilly
The Travelers rest is a lovely pub on Caerphilly mountain. It was probably an old cottage or farm house years ago and has a lovely thatched roof, it has been extended but has retained and great features inside like the old fire places which would be lovely to sit around on a cold winter day.
We called here for lunch after exploring the nearby ruins of Morgraig Castle which is in the woods just off the carpark.
I had Chicken piri piri which was served with chips and some Veg, it consisted of 2 small chicken breasts with a piri piri sauce, the chicken was quite dry were there was no sauce but the Piri Piri sauce although not very spicy (to my taste's) was lovely.
My friend had a lovely looking open chicken pie with chips and peas.
and all in all it was a nice meal .

We went to this pub after returning from a great day out in Bath, It is an Old Building that is over 400 years old and has been a pub for the last 200 years after having been converted from a farmhouse and barn. It still retains many original features like the Old Fire places, doors and low ceilings.
I would love to be able to have a really good look around this old building when it was quiet but with food and service this good i think that it will always be busy. The Pub is mostly taken up with restaurant seating with only a small area around the bar where there were a couple of people having a drink.
It really is a lovely place to go and the service was second to none. The waiters were all very smartly dressed, very attentive and helpful.
I had The Classic Mixed Grill and it was really lovely consisting of rump steak, gammon, chicken and sausage with a free range egg, Chips for 11.55 from the Chef and Brewer Menu, They also have their own specials menu with some really great looking dishes.
The Food was Lovely and it is certainly worth a visit, I would love to go back again soon.

We called into the Royal Oak and was at first a little bewildered at the Newports Curry House referance outside but it's just a traditional pub inside that does some really great food.
The menu consists of all the usual kinds of pub food as well as a full list of indian food and some great specials.
I ordered a Rib Eye Steak with chips and my friend ordered a Curry.
The food was really really good, My steak was fantastic and it came with lovely onions and mushrooms as well as a basket of chips. I have to say it was the best Steak i have had at any restaurant and i would love to try some more of their great food

The Briton's Protection Hotel, Castlefield
Although this Great pub does not look much from the outside it is lovely inside with some great features such as the Paintings on the walls of the Peterloo Masacre. Lovely decoration and friendly staff make this a great place to go for some food of just for a drink.

Varsity is a mainly student focused venue thats a great place to eat or drink, Ample seating in booths and a handy central bar area make it a popular place with many Student groups and for parties. The food is nice with good sized portions.
They have a large facebook group

This former Parrs Bank Building was designed by Charles Heathcote in 1902 and is a great example of Edwardian Baroque with some art nouveau detailing particularly in the wrought ironwork.
Now a pub known as the Athenaeum, it is in red sandstone with an imposing corner entrance topped with a dome and was probably one of Manchester's most opulent banking halls it is now a great place to grab a excellent value meal from about 2.50 and a cheap pint or two.
It's a large building and they do not seem to have any heating so if you are going in the winter you might have to keep your coat on.

The Border Rose is a great little pub opposite Gorden Rigg Garden centre.
It serves Great food at really reasonable prices. The large menu (on a chalk board) covers a wide range of delicious food with some great offers like 2 meals off the specials for 7.95.
I had a Steak Suet pudding done in the traditional Lancashire style made by wrapping the meat in the suet and then tying it in cloth and steaming it. It was delicious with chips and mushy peas.
There are some great meals on the Menu anything from a Snack like a baked potatoes with different fillings from 2.75, Hot Panini with a choice of filling from 3.50, Half Roast Chicken with chips and salad 6.50, Beef Casserole 5.95 to the 'Gut Buster' which at 19 is the most expensive but consists of an 8ox Rump steak, 12oz Gammon, 2 Pork Chops, 2 Lamb Chops, 2 Sausage, 2 Burgers, 2 Eggs, Onion Rings, Peas, Salad & Chips
Like with all Pubs you order your food at the bar and pay for it, service was good and fast and the food delicious. It's well worth eating here if you are in the area.

This fantastic pub serves great food, It is an old pub and dates from around the 15th century. Previously called Ty Newydd (New House) Tavern, yet renamed in its present form during the late 18th century in honour of George, Prince of Wales, who was crowned George IV in 1820. It has been rebuilt over the years with the original Inn facing east and overlooking the old highway - Y Lane Fach (The Little Lane) around the year 1602. Sometimes also called 'The Corporation' the Inn was rebuilt in 1808 with its first floor room remaining of significant historical importance within the Borough. It has been used as the Town Hall when the sand encroached and covered the old village.
Oak beams and a real open fire really make this pub feel great and the food was just fantastic. I had North Sea Cod with chips and mushy peas and it was MASSIVE, I was absolutely stuffed. The fish was just right and delicious. I would love to go here again.
The pub has a lot of information about shipwrecks in the local area and a lot about local history. At the side of the car park there is a monument to all that have been lost at sea off the South Wales Coast.

The Tap & Spile is a great pub opposite the Pier, popular with both students and locals it's a great place to call in for a drink or for something to eat from what is quite a good menu and all at really reasonable prices. It is quite nice when you walk in with some great old signs up on the walls, one of which is for a brand of Cigarettes called Craven 'A' which boldly states "they wiil not affect your throat"
We have called in a few times for drinks and my son has always fancied eating there and although he now lives just around the corner he had not been in. Some of his house mates had and they said the food was good and you get loads so we decided that after walking to Menai bridge and back we would eat there and then stay for the Quiz (on a Tuesday Night)
we were not disappointed, I had a mixed grill which consisted of a plate of chips with a piece of steak, Gammon a lamb Chop, black pudding, mushrooms and a tomato, it was well worth the fantastic price of just 5.45. My Son had Chips with beans, fish fingers and a spicy Chicken burger which again was only 4.45. You certainly cannot complain at that and I will be eating there again, and hopefully next time we will win the Quiz and the 8 drink tokens will be ours.

This large pub is friendly and welcoming, Prices seem a bit cheaper than othe pubs and the menu looked really interesting. It is a very student friendly pub and has wireless internet access and large tables to spread all your work out on.
As this pub is close to the University and opposite the students Union building it will be quite lively at nights should be a good place to be.

The New Inn, Gloucester
There are four bars at the New Inn Hotel, including an award winning Real Ale Bar that offers 12 different cask ales, a coffee shop serving teas and cakes and a restaurant that can accommodate up to 48 people. We called in the evening for a drink hoping to see at least one of the resident ghosts and maybe have my pint thrown off the table as in the video on the BBC website. Sadly no ghost were seen. They day after we callled in for lunch. We did not go into the restaurant for what looks to be a very popular carvery but instead chose to eat in the Bar. I had a Cheese and bacon burger with chips and my girlfriend had a lovely Chilli and Rice that was home made and tasted great.
Wireless Internet Hotspot is available in public areas and is free of charge.
