The Commodore Hotel, Bournemouth
Young temp landlord as the old one left. Quiz no longer any good. Less people in. Real shame.

Where did all the comments go? Much room for improvement, but beer by and large good, regular guests. Karaoke truly awful. It says singers keep coming back every week above. It's the same singers, very small in number.

Nice beer. Good helpful staff. Food looked good but didn't try any.

Didn't go in. The hoards of local huddled round the front smoking and staring menacingly at you if you looked like you might go in was enough for me.

The Pack O Cards Inn, Combe Martin
Ok if in the garden with kids. Play stuff not unsafe in my view but would prefer river to be fenced off. Beer good. Didn't try the food. Only really one small bar inside, rest like a restaurant.

The Rock Point Inn, Lyme Regis
This is a great place for a pint and to watch the football.

Tatty. Quite friendly though, but not so sure how friendly some of the locals are.

Question: Why would I want to go to a local pub which has bouncers on the door?
Answer: On a postcard please!

Abolutely excellent pub. Beer superb, staff superb, atmosphere superb. On or around the best in the whole town.

The Southbourne Cliffs, Southbourne
Hole in the ground. Surprising as it's in a nice area.

Ive read a few reports which suggested that this place was a bit rough. A relatively new place (bank conversion I think) but feels like its a lot older. Ive always enjoyed nights out there. Nice garden in the summer and big screen football when the need arises.

Local pub in the northern suburbs. Always get the feeling that you are never more than a minute away from a did you spill my pint moment. Smaller bar ok.

Town centre pub which has got it just right. Good bar staff with table service, excellent friendly doormen (and woman shes superb) with live music or what Id class as a decent disco.

The Horse and Jockey, Bournemouth
Local pub way out in the normal suburbs. Recently knocked the middle and public bar into one and currently appears to be chav central which is a shame. Dont feel welcome there now. Disaster. Used to be one of my favourites.

Good for a pint by the beach and chain pub food. Full of grockles unsurprisingly but very kid friendly.

The Commodore Hotel, Bournemouth
Sort of a hotel bar on top of the cliff but a good atmosphere, well kept Ringwood bitter and excellent quiz nights on a Thursday and Sunday. Nice patio overlooking the bay for those warm summer evenings. I think the landlord is excellent, like his style.

Good place to sit out front on a summer evening and admire the short skirts and the Citroen Saxo's with body kits bombing up and down the road outside.

The Crooked Chimney, Welwyn Garden City
Formerly a pub of great character, now a chain food pub with all the charm knocked out of it as per Red Lion.

Good beer, but now more of a restaurant (and not cheap either) than a pub.

Stanborough, Welwyn Garden City
On the side of the travel inn. Just slightly more than a hotel bar with a couple of real ales so just about worth popping in for a pint if youre in the vicinity.

Not to be confused with the ONeills chain, this place is owned by people called ONeill! Just off the town centre. Irish themed and sometimes quite rowdy but a good time can be had there. Upstairs disco probably can get a bit hairy.

Long Arm and Short Arm, Welwyn Garden City
Traditional village local. Two distinct bars with different characters. Decent food, including take away fish & chips at the weekend. MacMullens beer plus a guest plus Foster & new Heineken.

Doctors Tonic, Welwyn Garden City
Town centre pub. Not my cup of tea as Im getting old, but some good live bands upstairs in The Green Room from time to time. Kids in the main bar who are just there to try and look hard.

Large but well run town centre pub, very very busy on Fridays and Saturdays.

An excellent pub. Excellent real ale. Everything is right about it except that it can be slightly smoky.

If I was a betting man, I'd suggest that the reviews posted between 8-9 Jan all came from the same source.....
