Popped in here a couple of sunday evenings ago, all the bar staff were in a huddle and I had to wait to be served even though I was the only person at the bar. The carvery was still being served, though there was more food on the floor than anywhere else and I sat and watched members of staff walk past many times sometimes treading on the food but making no attempt to clear it up. There were kids running around which is a personal hate of mine, where are the parents!!
Nice pub but going downhill.

well rdv last of the big spenders ? lol
The improvements to this pub are there for all to see, not having pies on the menu is insignificant compared to fact this place is now clean, and welcoming, void of the instructional blackboards and cctv everywhere, miserable landlord and wife. The smell of the kitchen in the bar has gone too. The beer seems better than it was and the menu now varies from day to day, with a chef in the kitchen, not a pie making machine, all in all a great improvement all round, well done , keep it up

Nice little "real" pub with small patio area at rear, the beer (Hadlow) was great, only wish I had time to try the food which looked great. Well worth a visit.

Not been here for a while, but they seem to have upped their game, staff better trained and more attentive, appears to be working as it was full, excellent carvery on tues night, downside is that there is only Shepard neame beer....ok if you like the stuff i suppose. Rekon they're trying to compete with the Red lion at the other end of the village!

The Rose and Crown, Thorpe Green
Great pub with attentive staff good range of beer and food and very large garden with kids play area.
Owned by the same group (Barrons inns) as the Cricketers in Horsell and the Star at Malden Russett

Beer prices not equal to the staff, interior, food, service, best bitter should be 2.50 as a comparison

This place just gets better and better, ate here the other saturday, had to sit in the bar area as restaurant was full all night. The food was amongst the best we've tasted anywhere in the country. The only downside (if there is one) is that its a bit noisy when the bar's full, but we'll put up with that just for the excellent food.

Tried the Horseshoe for the first time ever recently, great pint of Harveys, and the food was as good as you could expect for the price. Staff seemed well trained pleasant and eager to please. Large conservatory catering for various functions at rear. Well worth a visit.

The Red Lion Inn, Horsell
Ate here the other day, had the burger which was brilliant and exactly the same quality as I remembered, partner had steak which they said was very good. Not sure how they keep the portions and quality so high all the time. Great pub/restaurant
