The Plume of Feathers is a large chain pub owned by Ember Inns. It’s cheap and cheerful on every level, as are the regulars. It isn’t really near anything, other than a Homebase and a petrol station, and I wouldn’t feel the need to make a special trip to visit. InHiding - 1 May 2019 17:10 |
Decided to give this place another try, I see its nearly a year from my review below. The choice of ales was very good but sadly the good points end there. Staff were very poor, had to repeat my order 3 times because they were busy chatting (and being rude) about another customer and kept forgetting which beer I was after. Also no hot drinks as their machine was broken (a shame given the sub zero temperatures outside). The place was looking a little shabby due to broken furniture, peeling wallpaper and a large patch of damp on the ceiling. Food was ok, apart from cold chips. Although they seemed to have run out of a lot of items on the menu which is understandable considering the weather. Overall I dont think this place gets another chance now. This must be my 3rd visit that has been poor. This place has bags of potential but suffers from the 'chain pub' attitude. loughtonian - 3 Dec 2010 15:03 |
avoid this pub at all costs, there are so many better places to eat or drink nearby. The beer is poor, the food is worse and the staff unhelpful and unprofessional. tophops - 3 Mar 2010 12:19 |
Food is poor (Tikka Masala more like soup), never the same staff in there. Staff more interested in chatting amongst themselves, not trained in using the till properly, have to repeat your order a number of times, just general disinterest from the staff. I have been a few times, last two visits were pretty awful so I emailed their head office - no response. Shame because its my local. Weeknights its not too rowdy but Fri and Sat there are a lot of very drunk and sometimes agressive people in there. loughtonian - 6 Nov 2009 12:28 |
A fairly sterile pub that serves a wide range of decent food and reasonably priced beer. Clean and tidy and comfortable, but no real atmosphere. A nice place to eat or have a couple of drinks with your parents but you wouldn't want to spend the night there. Piemaster - 22 Oct 2009 06:32 |
