Not a pub for genuine drinkers it is a 1974 built building with very small tables, was built to serve the yuppy set for a nearby research building but they dont seem to like it. Beer is average and food is small portions with large portion price. andyw1260 - 16 Nov 2011 17:38 |
Intransit London to Southwold. Hungry tum - saw signs at Martlesham pointing to pub off the main road. Called in and ordered Ham, Egg & Chips plus two pints of Guinness. Superb! Service, flawless; food beautifully cooked & presented and Guinness well poured and served. Worth a call in! almost_an_old_git - 1 Jan 2008 19:11 |
Not an enjoyable experience, lots of children the food was very chicken in a basket and of the two ales Green King IPA (Is it me or is this pint nothing of note now?) and Adnams (off that day) left me free to drive home! However the staff were excellent and the atmosphere friendly with good access for the disabled and elderly with plenty of space for children and the heath in front of you! Have visited The Douglas Bader many times. It's an excellent pub for families with an extensive, well varied and reasonably priced menu. The atmosphere has always been very friendly and the service is very good too, even when busy. Lots of aviation related pictures inside featuring Douglas Bader himself and also when Martlesham was used by the 356th Fighter Group, USAAF -pub is built on part of the old runway. Well worth a visit. woodie356 - 4 Jan 2006 10:20 |
