The Douglas Bader, Martlesham Heath

Have visited The Douglas Bader many times. It's an excellent pub for families with an extensive, well varied and reasonably priced menu.The atmosphere has always been very friendly and the service is very good too, even when busy. Lots of aviation related pictures inside featuring Douglas Bader himself and also when Martlesham was used by the 356th Fighter Group, USAAF -pub is built on part of the old runway. Well worth a visit.

White Horse, Beyton

Stayed in Beyton last week. Went into The White Horse with my wife. Bar staff was female - not sure if landlady or barmaid - but very frosty reception. Unsmiling, took our order, no please, thank you or anything else. We did notice that she was talking to, and having a drink with regulars in the other bar - maybe we interrupted her conversation? Don't expect to be treated like a long-lost relative, but this kind of attitude does not encourage a return visit - so we didn't! Shame, 'cos the Bateman's XXXB was pretty good.
