Just home from second visit in as many weeks to The Farmhouse pub in Kesgrave. The food was terrible, slow bringing food, think we waited approximately 40 minutes and when it arrived everyone's was cold and they got my order wrong. My party of three had finished their food before mine returned. Keep thinking they will 'get their act together' but not the case. Avoid if you enjoy good food, go if your not too bothered about food! LisaandLemons - 27 Aug 2013 16:42 |
Not great really , took ages to get served then the food was over cooked when it arrived plus they just seem to cater for food so when you want a drink it took a while. I won't be going back on the up side it was cheap it would rather pay a bit more for something better. Krustytheclown - 15 Apr 2013 10:45 |
Very poor on beer just two pumps on the go abbot ale and another if you are lucky thats if the barrel has been recharged. Food is reheat from freezer mostly, but all that aside it a pleasant place to be in nice surroundings. rustheap - 23 Dec 2011 22:14 |
Owned by Green King so should have a good standard which it has but staff change almost weekly with just a manager on show a couple of times a week. Beer is very poor with Abbott and IPA on tap so poor score here, food is reheat which typical of a hungry horse. Nice in the summer sitting outside so price wise ok but let down by Beer strange as it`s owned by a brewer that does some of the best beers. andyw1260 - 29 Nov 2011 16:30 |
I would recommend this pub to parents with small children. It's a 'hungry horse' pub which means food is served all day on unfeasibly large plates. The food isn't of gourmet quality and closer inspection might suggest your meal could easily have fitted onto a standard sized plate; however if like me you are happy with a 'chips with everything' type of menu then you'll be OK here. Furthermore this is a pub which welcomes children, with their own 'pony club' menu, fruit shoots etc. This is a pub where your kids can talk incessantly at top volume- drop their cutlery and climb under the table to look for it- get bored and decide to keep wandering off- in fact do all the things kids do without you having to cringe with embarrasment because all the other kids are doing it too. Extra plus point for me as a parent wanting to eat with my family but still drink decent beer- the hungry horses are owned by Greene King so you'll find some of their real ales on offer- Abbot and Old Speckled Hen (sadly the new reduced alcohol version) on our visit. Given the cacaphony of kids it's surprising any childless groups would want to come- but they do, in droves. As a result the pub is very busy- on one occasion we were told there was a 20 minute wait to order food, let alone be served with it. In a nutshell I would recommend a) visiting only if you have kids in your party b)avoiding obvious busy times like Sunday lunch- try 'teatime' instead. For the childless I'd recommend nipping round the corner to the Bell. edchambers - 10 Jul 2007 21:36 |
