This pub is currently closed - no sign of life whatsoever (Sunday lunchtime). TheHerbalist - 22 Apr 2013 11:27 |
Yes I agree it's revolting in here there are much better pubs my favourite for a great night is the Bottle fun for all the family, give it a try! benton - 30 Nov 2012 15:27 |
Totally agree with the previous comment! This place has much potential and with the much better Bottle House and Spotted Dog just up the road you'd think they'd at least try and compete. Sadly, the beer, the food, the decor and the ambience is below average which is a shame for a pub in such an affluent village as Penshurst. Can only assume that as it's the only pub in the village itself, they purely rely on visitors to nearby Penshurst place and passing trade. I can't imagine how it would survive in a larger town with closer competition. meland - 16 Aug 2012 12:14 |
Visited a week ago and won't be going back. We arrived for a late lunch and took ages to process the orders. We were told that the fish on the fish sandwich was breaded but when it came it was battered and very greasy... we couldn't eat it all. My friend ordered a brownie for dessert but after waiting a while I asked at the bar - the kitchen hadn't got the order so we left. It was all very disorganised and I hate to think how they would cope with a rush... it all seemed very grubby, especially en route to the toilets. Such a shame to have a third rate dive in such a lovely village... they must rely on passing trade as they clearly don't care about developing regular custom. achillea - 20 Apr 2012 17:19 |
On the few occasions i have been here the bitter has been in poor condition, This and a general air of shabbiness and disinterest means i won't be returning for the foreseeable future kisstaker - 26 Sep 2010 20:04 |
