| Definitely a food pub. Food was above average, although they don't do Sunday roasts (we visited on a Sunday). Staff friendly but a little clueless. Beer however was very poorly kept too cold to disguise that it was past its best. simontheeditor - 18 Sep 2018 15:36 |
| Called in last Saturday afternoon and asked for the menu whilst ordering a pint of Hyde's Saint George. Upon being told that the pint was �3.20 (or possibly �3.25) I suddenly lost my appetite. Some of the meals were reasonably priced but not if one were to choose to have a couple of pints to "wash it down"! There is a stupid sign at the front door saying use the rear entrance yet there are tables out the front - are you supposed to circumnavigate the pub every time you want to go to the bar/toilets? I then carried on walking about a mile to the Hanging Gate at Sutton and the exact same beer was �2.75 (yes 50p cheaper!) | I go to this Pub about once a month, I have always found the staff cheerful and welcoming. I particularly like their idea of service, which is they show you to a table (usually where I would chose to sit) then take your order. No queuing at counters, remembering what your table number is and they don't confiscate your credit card in case you do a runner!
