Youngs pub with only Ordinary, Special and Proper Job available. Food seen but not tried. In a boring location on a main street.

I live just around the corner from the Brewers Inn, and feel compelled to add some of my own comments, following a string of very disappointing experiences. New management took over a few months ago, and I have to say they have made things worse if anything. The quality of the food has gone downhill but the prices have gone up, and they don't offer any lunchtime specials anymore - in fact there are no specials on offer ever. The last time I went there were more staff than customers, yet despite this it took them ages to get the food out (they served staff before us - yes, exactly) and they couldn't even get that right. Despite smiling and being really friendly about trying to get the issues resolved the staff were unfriendly and suggested we 'complain to the manager', which we duly did. She promised a reply yet over a month later I am still waiting. Based on several visits I have found the food overpriced, the staff not particularly friendly, and the attitude of the management slightly arrogant - I am just guessing but perhaps they make so much money from wedding functions from Wandsworth Town Hall they don't see the need to treat their regulars very well. There is no atmosphere either. Go elsewhere would be my recommendation - it's a real, real shame as the pub has SO much potential, but they need to buck their ideas up, offer a few lunchtime specials and hire some lively and friendly staff.

Called in here on a Tuesday lunchtime and found quite a busy establishment with a good selection of Youngs beers on. The staff were welcoming and pleasant.

Situated in Wandsworth, a short walk away from the site of the old Ram Brewery, this smartened-up Youngs Pub caught my attention straight away because it was so clean - I mean spotless, like I was afraid to put my pint down on the bar top just in case it left a ring.

Youngs Ordinary & Special were on draught alongside Tribute with more of the Youngs range in bottles behind the bar. Special was in good nick and at 3.15 about average given the area. Moving through the bar area you end up in the lounge, which with its abundance of leather armchairs and Chesterfields is quite opulent; Its like drinking in a National Trust property. There is also a dining area and judging by the menu this is the sort of place that takes the food very seriously. The piped r&b music seemd a little superfluous but I don't want to mark it down for that. I liked this place quite a lot and would definitely return.

Had a meal at this pub (not really a pub anymore) and must just say that the meal was great value for money. Well above the average pub meal you would expect. Although it wasn't very busy the service was the best I've had for a long time. Pint of Youngs went down very well indeed.

Back soon!
