'kin dreadful place. AVOID AVOID AVOID. tasteless modern interior ie cheap and nasty. NO ALE, only fizzy chemo-pops and crap lager. Popular with locals ie not students any more, and airmen from the nearby RAF Leuchars. These two groups enjoy fighting each other outside this cesspit every weekend. Do not go near, at any time, but especially not at weekends as this is a notorious local crime spot, muggings assualt etc. longsdon - 17 Dec 2006 18:06 |
I quite like it, while you wouldn't want all the drinking establishments in st andrews to be like this, its good to have the one there just to add variety. That said, it has been over a year since I last went there, and I cant remember what the beer selection is like. I appologise. Iceman - 17 Apr 2005 00:22 |

Formerly Ogsten's, this bar is close to the Bute medical department, and as such often has a few of the local medical students hanging around (at least, it did back when it was Ogsten's). Go down the long entrance corridor to find a well sized main room with a large bar down the right hand side. Above you is a balcony / mezzanine floor, whilst a smaller room continues out of the main room. Fundamentally, the layout has changed little, although the dark wooden feel of it's previous incarnation has been replaced with a more modern dark-and-shiny look, which is actually quite appealing (much better than bright-and-shiny!). A good selection of lagers and beers are sold (although with a bit of a lack of handpull, if I remember right), and the staff are very friendly. Food is very well priced and well prepared. All in all, a very good place to stop off. I do (just about) remember coming here once when it was Ogsten's, to find Stella on pound-a-pint the day after the students had all left... :o) Andy - 16 Feb 2004 14:01 |
