I have moved to the area and I have to say the Royal George is a gem of a pub, I have met good friends here and eat there every Wednesday night with them.

Very friendly, good food(sea food to die for) they have a sea food festival each year which is a must to book and see what sea food is on offer from all over the world.

Come and see for yourself as they say

I live locally to this pub and I have to say I am exceptionally disappointed. Barningham is a beautiful village and would be complete with a welcoming and hospitable public house, unfortunately the royal George falls far short. The land lady, in my opinion is rude and bossy, the food, although is pleasant, is served in a militant style, one MUST order at the time one booked their table at the restaurant or else risk the dinner booking all together. The hours published as being open is not necessarily true, a Saturday night I ventured a walk at 10:45 pm with a friend for an evening drink to find the pub closed, even though they advertise being open until 11:30!!
In conclusion there are far too many struggling deserving public houses that need our patronage, this is one to avoid and unfortunately is a huge disappointment in every sense of the word....

This is our local pub, and even if we do sayso ourselves it is excellent!!! The food is great cooked by a 1st class chef, the beer is good and the atmosphere even better!

July 2006 I stayed round the corner in a B & B. The first night I ate here the food was fine and the wine pleasant enough. However the landlady was in my opinion bossy and unfriendly. The waitress on the other hand was charming and efficient. I tried to eat there again two nights later. Food was meant to be served until 8:30 and I arrived after a hard days work at 8:15. I was appalled when I was rudely turned away, told the chef was no longer cooking. I was then forced to drive 12 miles to Bury St Edmunds to eat which was not what I wanted after a 12 hour working day. I checked out of my B & B and moved to Bury St Edmunds which is full of restaurants and pubs with hospitable landlords and landladies. Why work in the hospitality industry if you are not prepared to be hospitable. I have subsequently worked a second four week stint in this area again staying in Bury St Edmunds. I think my bill the first evening was around 30. I could well have eaten there 25 times during the last two summers. That's a lot of custom to turn away?
