Only charges 1.99 for Caledonian 80 shillings (which is well kept) so gets my vote for that alone. Good cross section of locals, tourists and - on my visit - an amusing though inoffensive hen night. Staff know their business and are also friendly. Didn't try the food. johnkn7 - 23 Oct 2006 16:32 |
Supremely positioned and hence in danger of being a rubbish tourist pub. Not a bit of it - good value beers and ales accompanied by a no nonsense interior and efficient staff - proper job. vurshon - 8 Apr 2005 16:01 |
The pub downstairs was fantastic, the barman was excellent. However, we decided to try the restaurant upstairs. When I complained that my food was inedible (which is was!) I was told by the waitress that the chef said it was fine and that she didn't give a s**t anyway. It was a great shame as we had been in the bar downstairs & enjoyed it thoroughly until then. It casts a shadow over the whole establishment. A pity they can't get staff upstairs to match the efficiency of the barman that was working on the 13th November 2004. Great pub to sit outside and people watch in the summer (if you can get a table) also has plenty of charm in the winter with low ceilings and dark wood abounding. Standard beer selection and good haggis, neeps and tatties. Considering it is a tourist pub it still has a certain charm mattgander - 23 Jun 2004 17:48 |
