Visited the Auld Hundred with a couple of friends on a recent Saturday night. Would have had a positive report if it wasn't for the thug of a door man. There was only a few people in the bar all quietly enjoying their conversations. The doorman hung around inside the door spoiling the atmosphere. At drink up time he became the heavy, pushing everyone to drink up. nothing wrong with a polite request to drink up but he was totally thuggish and unreasonable. Nobody was in the mood for any hassle but he was provoking in his attitude, we left quitely but won't be revisiting in a hurry. homer20 - 16 Jan 2009 20:50 |
I was shopping in Edinburgh and decided to visit a couple of bars in Rose Street on the way home. I must say that the staff were great and the locals friendly. Good clean pub - the only improvement would be some real ale Maseratidave - 19 Sep 2008 10:54 |

I happened to pop into this pub on a recent night out in Edinburgh....avoid this place if possible. When our party of 8 passed through the door, we were "greeted" with glares from both customers & staff, and mutters of discent...It would seem they like regulars here and frown upon casual passers by, which must piss them off, being on Rose St, one of the city's busiest pub crawls. There were no cask beers available, so after a swift Bud bottle ( I might prefer cask beer but I'm not THAT fussy!)we left, hopefully never to return! budvar_1 - 23 Mar 2006 00:45 |
