So here we have it...Rugby is turning into a generic chavtastic town one pub at a time by stripping down any venue aimed at people who like other genres of music other than RnB and Hip Hop. Fantastic. This pub WAS great as a general hangout for anyone who fancied a drink with friends, now however you need to own at least 2 velour tracksuits just to walk through the door without feeling like you need 999 on speed dial. Awful place. All colour, atmosphere and character has been replaced with a cheap and shoddy bright white 'make over', attempting to turn this potentially beautiful building into a modern-esque club style pub hybrid eye sore. Pointless activity, and pointless expenditure. Weeknights are cheap drink night though, so i guess its a bonus if you get absolutely smashed and forget exactly where you are. Make sure you strap your shoes on tight as you willinvariably lose a shoe, possibly both shoes, if you don't. Awfully generic, pointless, Midas Lounge type of pub with nothing to offer but the promise of trouble on a Friday night and rude bar staff who don't appear to have a clue what they are doing. For your own sanity avoid this pub as if your life depends on it, or risk having it severely comprimised! annsummersrep - 28 Jan 2010 15:56 |
After a nightmare on the trains (early Jan 08) getting to Rugby I was desperate for a drink as I should have arrived four hours earlier. After buying an A-Z of Rugby this was the first place I went to seek sanctuary. Not a bad place, rather large with high ceilings, I suspect it was (reasonably) recently refurbed/repainted, one wall of gig posters/flyers suggested it's popular with the rock/goth youngsters in the area. Staff were friendly, Pedigree was alright, nothing special but I did stay for a second. Killian42 - 8 Mar 2008 14:29 |
