A good pub for beer which isn't as obvious a statement as it should be. The ales are very well kept and an excellent pint of Wherry was enjoyed to the full. The landlord's pronouncements on the subject of Greene KIng IPA were also hard to disagree with. BoehmBawerk - 3 Apr 2008 17:42 |
Shame about the photo, this is not the Rose Tavern. Used to visit this place years ago when Graham and Justin run it. The news is that they now reside in Australia. Have recently found out that Reg passed on, yet another old character gone. I will be back later in the year to try the beers again, i'll give a rating then. Looking forward to it. mac1 - 20 Jan 2008 14:50 |
Agree with other comments a good pub for decent beer and a nice trouble free clientele 154e - 15 Sep 2005 11:46 |
To describe this place, as "just a Pub", is to miss the point completely, The Rose Tavern is more than that. Not only does this pub serve the finest ales in the East of England, but it is a meeting place for people who appreciate a great pint, and arent like most people who frequent pubs in Wisbech with the sole aim of getting blind drink. Unlike most of the other pubs in Wisbech, there is very little in the way of trouble here, as it is tucked away, unbeknown to the local travelling fraternity. If you appreciate exceptionally fine beer and good company, then this is the best place to be. sbungle - 11 Jul 2005 17:01 |
In the words of Tina Turner.SIMPLY THE BEST.No matter where I travel this pub stands as my benchmark. Not only for the superb range of beers which change regularly but also for the fantastic atmosphere and welcome from Dave the landlord. No Juke box here. The only thing that lets it down are the toilets which are still outside.Unfortunately due to the superb condition of the beers it is necessary to make this visit on several occasions during an evening.
