Visited on Carnival night, absolutely packed. Effective but polite door staff. I was served almost immediately with a completely full glass of good quality beer by pleasant bar staff, and charged a reasonable price for it. Customers in an excitable mood but still very friendly. By far the best pub in Wells. MrKiA - 18 Nov 2019 17:44 |
I second the previous review to mine. The Rose & Crown had large groups of youngsters at one end, with older patrons at the other. There was also a busy outdoor area at the rear, again with youngsters. The interior was bright and colourful, whilst the beer range was better than I'd expected - Courage Directors, Exmoor Gold, Cotleigh Albatross & Dark Star Hophead. One of the best pubs in the city. blue_scrumpy - 8 May 2019 21:23 |
One of those small town, 'all life is in here' pubs which is a common thing for Wells. It's good to see a range of generations enjoying a Saturday night drink and the ale selection was local and well chosen. BoehmBawerk - 9 Jul 2017 19:41 |
Nice friendly pub. Proper pint of Gorge Best. mousefan - 7 Apr 2011 00:32 |
Really good atmosphere, Thatchers Gold was very drinkable, great garden, which is very well cared for. Good landlord, perhaps I'll make it my local and improve my italian but I suspect a lot of the words he comes up with would not be 'suitable' for polite Italian company. It's refreshing to enter a pub and feel almost immediately one of the crowd. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? Worth a visit if you are in Wells danchampion - 7 Apr 2010 22:11 |
