And now, I believe, it's closed, anyway. pubobserver - 17 Aug 2014 18:53 |
It's a bit unfair to slag this place off for not being a good pub, when it isn't a pub at all. It's a restaurant; not a bad one, and not particularly expensive by home counties restaurant prices - but no, definitely not a pub. If you went in just for a pint when they weren't busy, you'd probably get served, but you'd probably feel a bit out of place. The current beer is St. Austell Tribute, by the way, and unless you ask, you'll get it, rather quaintly these days, in a jug. In good nick though. My main complaint with the place is that their bright new signs do specifically call it a pub - and it ain't! earlydrinker - 7 Nov 2011 12:35 |
It seems to be totally food-orientated, although the food is definitely top-notch (and at top-notch prices). Do think twice, though, before thinking of it as somewhere simply to pop in just to have a drink, because you'll probably be very much discouraged before leaving with empty pockets. pub_aficianado - 3 Oct 2011 19:00 |
I wish I had read the previous review before going in the pub today. Over 9 for a glass of wine and a pint of beer with no choice at all! Will not be returning bgbeer28 - 16 Sep 2011 21:58 |
Food used to be oustanding. Inside used to be outstanding. Prices always pricey. Beer - gone down over the years to one single pump, which at least is Westerham. Now its completely ruined, owners have clearly gone mad...the inside has been ripped out and is the most souless tudor building I have been in. Gone are the brasses, brewing and farming decor, gone is the roaring open fire, gone are the cosy tables and chairs. Now painted lilac, bizarre artwork on the walls and cold black leather chairs. Poor quality food, outrageous prices. 19 for a bottle of wine. Avoid! canters12 - 23 May 2010 15:45 |
