Stayed overnight on campsite, everyone friendly and helpful.Nice pint and meal tap - 24 Jan 2010 10:28 |
Very well run and friendly pub. Despite being very busy, service was quick, friendly and never offhand. The menu has a very good choice and the helpings are generous, but not at the expense of quality. Two of our group had the roast beef Sunday lunch, while I had the lamb's liver. All very good. Four real ales on - Marston's, Jennings Cumberland, Ringwood Best and Wychwood Hobgoblin. I had the last two and they were very fine (as you would expect from the CAMRA Pub of the Year for the area). All in all a very enjoyable experience and I would not hesitate to recommend this pub. Thirstyone - 18 Oct 2009 21:30 |
A bare minimum of 4 real ales, friendly staff, very nicely decorated and in a pleasant, idyllic village green location, I really can't think of anything bad to say about this place. I have never tried a meal, but the food always looks excellent. All in all, one of my favourite pubs in the area and I would reccommend it to anybody who claims to be a supporter of the traditional village public house. Well done to the staff of 'The Royal Oak'. You are obviously doing something right. siddo - 16 Aug 2009 00:48 |
A superbly run pub overlooking the largest village green in England. The pub is the 2009 CAMRA Pub of the Year for Nottinghamshire. This is remarkable in that being a tied house (Marston's) the choice of beers are restricted yet there are always 4 real ales available in invariably first class condition. There is also a full menu of reasonably priced high quality meals. marquis - 22 Jul 2009 19:51 |
