This pub has been extensively modernised inside, and aims itself at dining. I have no problem with this in these changing times, but there was one glaring emission; No real ale! Just two NewZealand craft beers (1 IPA/ 1 Lager). Food did look good, and was busy on a late Sunday afternoon in May. Needs some love an care in some areas.... Car park pot holed, deck rotting etc... What can I say? My favourite place to eat! Easily the best food in the local area. It can be pricey but check out special offer evenings for better value. The staff there are always attentive and well-mannered even when it is busy and their attention to detail for special events is second to none. The Fleece is great for Sunday lunch with the family, weekday girls lunches or a romantic night out. I'm a real one for mucking about with the menu but the chef always takes it in his stride. They don't always do fillet steak on the menu but if you give them a call a couple of days before, they will order it in specially. Yes, it has gone upmarket from the spit and sawdust some were used to, but it still has a great atmosphere when it is busy. I can't recommend it highly enough. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Sal238 - 28 Aug 2011 15:57 |
went with my husband for a sunday lunch, my salmon wan uncooked in the middle, and I mean raw. Staff unconcerned. Got small discount. Went back for a drink to make sure it wasn't a one off, was greeted by the guy behind the bar with 'ey-up'. Wont go back. cointreau - 14 Apr 2011 22:01 |
This pub is alas no more. This is no longer a pub but a trendy Bistro. There isn't really a bar it is more of a holding area where guests wait to be shown to their tables. The atmosphere is as bland as the very trendy furnishings. This place would be far better suited to the urban sprawl catering for the needs of wealthy bankers and footballers wifes. Although, if food is what you are looking for then head here to this restaurant. However if you are looking for a nice drink in a country pub, keep on driving! pohsibel - 25 May 2009 12:09 |
