user reviews of The Hurt Arms, Ambergate
please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Previous reviews were fair. - This place WAS a dump. However a year or so back it was taken over and shut whilst major open-heart renovation was carried out. Now it's very up-market: Decor arty - sumptious even. Service very good: attentive, smiley staff who appear well-trained. Main thing though is the food; good basics - Fish & chips, pies etc. but also internationl options - French, Mexican. I have been there several times and our group rated it very highly. Not the cheapest place around but good value for the standard. ElTel999 - 23 Jan 2015 12:08 |
Not Ploughman's lunch as such, more a pile of food. No pickled onion, chutney or relish or even cheddar cheese. Nachos and big raw onion. Absolute rubbish and wish I had sent it back instead of paying 6.50! jc69 - 4 Jul 2011 10:32 |
Half decent beers, good location, dull decor, food is rank Rammy_Tupper - 28 Mar 2010 22:50 |
This large pub is handy for taking in walks around the Cromford Canal. It also has an adjacent campsite although campers are not encouraged to use the facilities unless they are customers. The decor is of the usual wooden surroundings common to many pubs and is perhaps looking a little tired. Beers available were Deuchars, Theakstons (both okay) and Directors (not tried). Reasonable food at sensible prices and friendly staff. GazzaTheBeerMan - 20 Apr 2009 13:58 |
