A lovely location with great views, beer fine. Ploughman's lunch for 4 (at a steep 10/head) took about 40 minutes to arrive. We were expecting great things. Nouvelle cuisine style ploughman's arrived. Portions of cheese were minuscule and sweaty. Additional bread basket to supplement initial paltry 4 slices was subsequently charged for. Staff appeared surprised that we weren't entirely satisfied with the meal. Suggest go in for a beer on the terrace to enjoy the view. Steer clear of a pretentious and disappointing food menu. Oh, and steer clear of the grassed garden - it was littered with dog faeces. Wadsy333 - 6 Jul 2011 08:48 |
Went there recently to see what the new people had done and it was worse than the last lot. Expensive and very ordinary beer, a few out of town types eating from a pretty average looking menu. The bar staff were shambolic and soon shifted on to loders down the Valley. Pity really, great location, prople with no idea running it. friendofhose - 16 Jan 2011 18:18 |
Pleasant village local sadly patronised by Londoners who have moved down and tried to take over village. If you can stand the Majors (Retd) and the precious little women it's OK. Beer is top class but very pricy. johnny.sausage - 27 May 2010 22:32 |
There were 4 Palmers ales on handles, but no 200 unfortunately. The pub is unrestored but had some character and it's apparently been a supplier of decent food for some ten years now, certainly what I had was delicious. I'll be back for more of both later. Feed - 30 Aug 2009 23:35 |
Nice pub and great beer. The bar man was very nice and was a Celtic supporter. anonymous - 5 Feb 2009 22:04 |
