10 real ciders on hand pump, numerous others in bottles - this has to be the best cider pub in the north west. Can someone else name a better one? For non-cider drinkers, still a very good selection of 5 ales via hand pump. Previously comments about it being dead are true, but I'm guessing they went in the evening during the week. This place is mainly for lunchtimes for nearby office workers, when it will be busy. Very cheap lunchtime meals (3.50 main course). If you like cider, you have got to give this place a try juninhocrunch - 20 Mar 2012 11:27 |
After a promising start this pub hasnt lived up to the landlords promise beer seldom on form and dead mrhandsome - 11 Jan 2012 14:48 |
Recently revamped pub, a 15 minute walk from the town centre and on the banks of a young River Mersey. It's pretty open plan inside, with a bar area and 2 separate, spacious lounges. However, the main reason to come is for the beer, as it has raised its' game and can now be counted among the many excellent pubs of Stockport. 6 handpumps dispensing guest ales from around the country and, as reported, a number of ciders. Had Saltaire Elderflower Ale which was very good. Seemed to be doing a brisk trade on a Saturday afternoon. Cheap pub grub also served- a toastie for 2 is excellent value. Definitely worth a visit, can be connected to a crawl of the Crown and the Pinapple Carlurmston - 16 Jul 2011 10:09 |
Put onto this pub by an apple head in the Crown. I could immediatly see why, about a dozen ciders on tap, some of them very dangerous. Good selection of hand pulls and a decent pint served. Very young landlord with ambition, just what the pub trade needs. I wish him well. 427scr - 15 Jun 2011 13:01 |
