A quirky oldtime pub in the middle of the forest that has somehow lost its old time quirky ambience. The food is doubtful and the ambience appeares to be themed. giimebeer - 24 Feb 2013 04:06 |
Went here for the First time on Saturday Good Pub Friendly Staff. The omly bad point is that the Kitchen is on the same level as the Bar and you come out smelling of Chp Fat other than that i couldn't fault the Place londonboy - 23 Jan 2012 15:40 |
What started out as a beautiful meal ended up in disaster. I took my parents and husband out for Sunday lunch. We had a beautiful 3 course meal - 90 and were happy...mostly. My father ordered the steak which looked lovely but halfway through became very fatty and he was unable to eat it. We tried to get the attention of a waitress but they were very busy so we left it. When the waitress came over we gave her the steak and pointed out only half of it was eaten. She umped and appreciated what was said admitting it was a "bad steak". It was taken away and nothing more was said. When it came to pay the bill we pointed out to the manager that it was a poor piece of steak and not entirely edible. We were not looking for money back or to insult him - the rest of the meal had been lovely. He became aggressive and confrontational. He called the waitress over who said she had said no such thing and a scene was caused. He became so confrontational I had to point out that we were not looking for confrontation to which he told us he did not appreciate our custom anyway. I paid the bill but would never go back. Customer service is horrendous and in all my years I have never been treated so badly for what was meant to be an enjoyable sunday afternoon. Such a pity. rosewine1978 - 20 Nov 2011 20:53 |
We called into the Duke of Wellington and had a drink and good chat with landlady. Its a really friendly pub. We had already had lunch at the Kings Oak in High Beach but didnt eat. We have often had meals here and the food is really good. Its a shame its on the high street in Epping, but the staff are friendly. caroil - 10 Oct 2010 21:20 |
