The Duke of Wellington, Epping

What started out as a beautiful meal ended up in disaster. I took my parents and husband out for Sunday lunch. We had a beautiful 3 course meal - �90 and were happy...mostly. My father ordered the steak which looked lovely but halfway through became very fatty and he was unable to eat it. We tried to get the attention of a waitress but they were very busy so we left it. When the waitress came over we gave her the steak and pointed out only half of it was eaten. She umped and appreciated what was said admitting it was a "bad steak". It was taken away and nothing more was said. When it came to pay the bill we pointed out to the manager that it was a poor piece of steak and not entirely edible. We were not looking for money back or to insult him - the rest of the meal had been lovely. He became aggressive and confrontational. He called the waitress over who said she had said no such thing and a scene was caused. He became so confrontational I had to point out that we were not looking for confrontation to which he told us he did not appreciate our custom anyway. I paid the bill but would never go back. Customer service is horrendous and in all my years I have never been treated so badly for what was meant to be an enjoyable sunday afternoon. Such a pity.
