Still the best Sheringham pub.. Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 2 Feb 2020 21:36 |
Probably my favourite Sheringham pub... a bar to the right, with a lounge with open fire to left. It may not appear initially wow, but trust me, the amount of locals, beer and food quality will win over.. staff are attentive, food is great (and large), and evenings are a pleasure to spend here,in a real pub. Beers during Jan 2019 were the usual Doom bar and Abbot, but also a stargazer IPA and wherry. The Sheringham shantymen sing here, and there are always talkative locals.. Actually, sorry, I think I may be confusing The Lobster with The Robin Hood by way of 'outrageous prices'! :-) renzarov - 21 Mar 2015 14:55 |
I had few beers in here whilst in Sheringham over the last 10 days or so, & the Abbot was pretty good. The real log fire was excellent, & actually did radiate heat outwards; unlike most, when the heat goes straight up the chimney! However, looking at the menu, there were some truly outrageous prices- eg £19.95 for mixed grill; cf Wetherspoons!- for what should be basic pub grub? I haven't eaten there recently, but did have a very good crab thermidor some years ago; paid for by my brother, so I can't say how much that cost! The place was virtually dead in terms of customers mid-afternoon, which pleased me, & was a nice change from the heaving London pubs to which I am most used! renzarov - 21 Mar 2015 14:45 |
The ales listed on a board outside the pub did not reflect the beers on the ten hand pumps inside. Five beers were on two hand pumps each, dispensing Abbot, Otter, Wherry and a couple of Adnams. fugglehops - 7 Oct 2012 16:19 |
