user reviews of the Florist, Stockport

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Visited the Florist recently. It has a new couple running the place. They have already made several changes all for the better. The place has had a coat of paint and the beers on offer has increased. As well as Robinsons Unicorn and Hatters, Dizzy Blond and Dark Hatters has been added. I tried both the Unicorn and Dizzy and they were both excellent. The pub was quite busy at the time and both the Hatters and Dark seemed to be selling well. I think I paid about 2.30 for the Unicorn so good value also.
There didn't appear to be any food on offer other than crisps , nuts etc but I did notice they have various events planned, Singers, Kareoke, etc.
Well woth another visit

Proper boozer, very much a locals pub but fills up with an eclectic mix on matchdays. Beer usually in good nick, several comfortable rooms, good outdoor smoking area and well maintained loos. Quirky but very enjoyable quiz night on Thursdays.

Our team comes to the town where the Florist is (Stockport)only once a year but we'd never go anywhere else, in fact, lose or win, we relish going there. The Robinsons is always wonderful, especially the Mild and the people on both sides of the bar are some of the friendliest you could meet. The pub has had a face lift or two in recent years - and it's welcome - but this pub is a traditional Northern boozer where everyone talks to everyone, no one goes un-noticed and you can have a good pint into the bargain. If you're at a County game as a visitor, or a Sale game, you'd do yourself an injustice if you didn't stop for one at least - you may never leave!!Thanks to everyone there and we'll see you next March !!

Great example of a multi-roomed pub on Shaw Heath, and one of the many Robinson's houses in the area. There are at least 5 rooms including a games room, a snug and a smoke room, in fact the whole pub seemed like a smoke room on my pre-ban visit last March. Central to all of these rooms is a small bar that has so little counter space that during busy times (like when County are playing at home) the punters have to queue up like at McDonalds. There is also an upstairs function room. About 10-15 mins away from the station and the football ground but far enough away so as not to attract too many away supporters (they'll be in the Armoury). Nice pub, friendly locals and decent beer (no Old Tom), worth a visit if you're in the area.
