My husband, son and i stayed overnight in the family room on a Saturday night. I have to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Could not complain about a single thing. Very friendly, welcoming, clean, tidy, lovely atmosphere. The room had everything we wanted, (the bed was so comfy too), tea/coffee/etc - and biscuits! The bathroom, a selection of travel size toiletries all laid out. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Derek the landlord was very friendly and took time out to chat, top bloke! And the pub dogs, legends! The pub was superb for a good night out in the evening, friendly, entertainment on, a really good night was had. I wish i had this pub where i lived. I highly recommend it and we will definately be going back again. nickandlynne - 25 Aug 2010 13:31 |
A quiet but friendly place on Halstead's main street. Apart from the landlady and the barmaid, there were only 5 of us in the pub on this Sunday afternoon. Two real ales were available - Adnams Bitter and Fullers London Pride. The landlady and barmaid engaged us in conversation and the experience was far more pleasant than the one we had around the corner in the nearby Dog Inn (separate review posted). blue_scrumpy - 15 Feb 2010 10:13 |
I like this place, it's always really welcoming, it's lovely on a sunny day when all the doors are open and a nice breeze runs through. Lovely bar staff in a lovely part of the country. anonymous - 19 Apr 2007 17:18 |
Very nice pub, not at all plain, plenty of atmosphere, bright and breezy - nice mix of regulars and visitors, fab bar staff, good food. anonymous - 4 Jan 2007 12:20 |
OK, but amazed it's in the beer guide - Mauldons was average. Very plain pub in an exceptional part of Essex - try Colne Engaine. mtaylor40 - 1 Dec 2006 00:13 |
