This is a family friendly pub with a lovely garden out front and a children's play area tucked round the back. The food would not win any awards from me, but everytime I have eaten there it has been acceptable. A place to take the kids for a treat - especially on a nice summer's day. Waiting staff very pleasant - but the woman running the bar could smile a bit more. mark1631 - 6 Jul 2010 11:31 |
Been going there for decades. The landlord will do whatever he can to make it a good evening for you. The food is up and down depending on who is in the kitchen. The food is reliable rather than good. Works well for kids, adults, dogs, and all sorts. humphs - 4 Apr 2009 02:42 |
Used to go to this pub as it has a lovely garden, but when I went there one boxing day the service and food were dreadful and so did not go back until last Sunday. We cycled there in the hot weather and got there midday. A couple in front had just been served. The barwoman then walked off and proceeded to lay the tables in the restaurant even though she could see we were waiting. Stood there for 7 minutes and gave up. Got on our bikes and cycled to better pub. Will never go back. Only giving them 1 point for the garden. Shame this doesn't get taken over by some decent landlord who wants the pub to succeed. Nice Country Pub. Selection of Real Ales (Abbots)etc. Large garden for the summer late evenings. Restaurant. Food a bit pricey and obviously from Brake Brothers. For these prices it should be fresh. Tina, (Landlady) and the bar-staff, friendly and helpful. Now does accomodation. Rooms nice, well kept, and reasonably priced (for the area.) Off road car-parking. Big Screen TV in back bar. Worth a visit if you're in the area. anonymous - 16 Jun 2006 20:07 |
