I highly recommend a visit (well more than one) to this pub! I am an organiser for a social group of local volunteers and Laura, Becky and the team could not be more helpful and friendly. Right from the start, I was shown an excellent table layout for our evening which included a quiz. I was even given a table to set out the prizes. I really don't know how they managed to cope with our large party of 23, creating such a relaxed friendly atmosphere, even though it must have been difficult for the chef dealing with our delayed start as some of our party arrived late. Our meals were served quickly and efficiently - not an easy task to get all of the orders correct for such a large party with a wide and varied menu selection. As I have feedback from the rest of my party, we all agree that the food was delicious, the service could not be faulted and the location and facilities are excellent.

Ate here following a recommendation from friends in upton to try it again after not visiting for a few years. The bar area has been decorated and furniture moved around and was full of locals, all of who seemed to know the staff and vice versa. service was relaxed yet attentive and manageress was friendly and interacted with most tables in the restuarnt. had a pint of the new h and w seasonal, well kept and tasty although slightly costly compared to other places. all in all, husband was happy, grandkids were happy. will be using more frequently.

Being one of the local pubs it was poor last time i visited. So i thought it maybe worth another look after two years. But again its no better, first going to order drinks and food there was still a tab open on a empty table. When this was sorted i ordered two lunch time specials, which were two courses for eight pounds a pint of lager half of cider. The food was average to poor but the real rip of is the ice cream one very small scoop in a egg cup when my partner had a large plate of fruit salad. Then going to pay the bill came to twenty five pounds fourteen pence,What isaid that makes a pint an half a bit much. She flumbled about with the till blaming the computer, handing me back four pounds. So that sums it up i will not be going back when theres a better pub the bakers arms just up the road.

Visited 25.6.2011 and again the following day for food. Slightly better than average menu but it does not come cheap - paying nearly 9 for what is basically a few lettuce leaves and a few slivers of chicken made me eat it slowly. They do a special where for a tad under a tenner you get a small portion of six desserts. I would not have it again as four of the six were basically the same whipped up cream with different bits added to it. Nice Badger beer and served at the correct temperature. A good experience and atmosphere all round though - hence the return visit to eat. What pushed the ratings up was the exceptional friendliness of all the staff we encountered and the knowledge about the food by the waiting staff. Will go back.

We love the food, we opt for a small appetite as that price suits us better. The only thing we dont like is that it is cramped, the tables are too close together and it gets crowded, hence the atmosphere is spoilt. This could be a nice eating place if they could have fewer tables
