The reviews below sound dreadful. Here is what I experienced - two pints of Mauldons (another Suffolk Brewery) with first being served at 10.30am...fair play. Beer garden very nice as were the bar staff pleasant enough tho did feel undercurrent of anti-walker animosity in landlord who patrolled the pub like something out of 30's Germany. 6/10 +1 for serving before 11am.

This pub is set in a lovely location. It has some great deals (2 meals for 9.95 etc). It can, I we found out today, get rather packed so book a table (do not do I we did and try The Maybush across the bridge because it was truly awful).
The willow trees outside and the ivy covered building are straight off the front of a chocolate box.
The food is usually pretty good but there have been some disappointments.

Breakfast is a completely different matter. They offer a 7.50 buffet and the hot stuff is lovely (scrambled eggs, eggs benedict etc) but twice we have found out of date produce in the cold section (one out of date flapjack and one green and mouldy chocolate muffin). Check your dates folks.

It will do my reputation no good at all, voluntarily visiting a Greene King pub. This one, for all its artificial ambience was actually better than expected on Sunday lunchtime. The carvery was served by a young chef who was slow but served decent portions so pick your time to avoid the queue. The beef and the turkey were very tender. The meat was accompanied by a reasonable selection of well cooked vegetables. I am not a fan of Abbot or Speckled Hen but these were also in good condition even if the bar service was a tad slow. The sighting of a water vole running across the patio completed an enjoyable visit.

Visited this pub/restaurant a couple of times. The first occasion, my lamb was cold in the middle only defosted not acctually cooked??!! This was replaced with a well microwaved one, but my partner had already finished his meal, so the atmospher was lost.
The second time we waited over an hour for our starter and it was only because we approached the waitress about our order (after noting other diners being served before us)that we were served our food I think we would still be waiting now.....Although the food was much better this time and we did receive our starter free of charge when we complained on paying the bill. Not sure whether to give it another try third time lucky?????
