I have visited The Walnut Tree a couple of times now and had a meal on my last visit. It is an excellent pub, the place is spotlessly clean and well decorated, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There were three ales (John Smith, Blacksheep and Batemans) and various lagers been served. My wife assures me that the wine was good and I can assure you that the beer was excellent. Drinks prices were average for York. The food is superb and very reasonably priced (you would need to book a table for Friday / Saturday evenings). There is a big enclosed garden with slide and swings for the children. And there is a large car park. They are open to midnight on Friday and Saturdays, although they stop serving dead on 11.30 and you must be out by 12. This is an excellent pub and I highly recommend a visit, enjoy! johnjk - 13 Jul 2008 13:20 |
By far the best pub in Heworth, has improved plenty in recent years. Now boasts 3 cask ales: Black Sheep and John Smiths Cask, along with a rotating guest. Food is plentiful and tasty. A clean and tidy pub, with beer garden and a smoking terrace. Highly recommended. MountainMan - 8 Apr 2008 17:55 |
Seems a pleasant pub, only visited once. Pleasant edge of village location, beautiful large building. Inside seems nice enough, large front bar, and smaller back bar, with big screen football when i was there. Had a couple of nice beers on, service was friendly and regulars were cheerful enough "rough-dimond" locals. alistair_cross - 22 Apr 2006 15:07 |
